LAST EDITED ON Jan-30-11 AT 10:06AM (MST)[p]reading the paper this morning. the yellowstone elk herd was 20,000 back in 1994. today it is 4,635 elk. they go to blame the drought more than anything else.

its funny that is when about the wolves were brought in.

jake clark {outfitter and who donates tons of money to the rocky mountain elk foundation} said these wolves need to be controlled and the paper says there are 600 grizzlies he thinks there are over a 1000 bears. and i agree with that. he was no problem sharing the woods with bears and wolves he just wants to see some managment.

he had to close his best outfitting camp cause the wolves wiped out so much.the camp brought in 100,000 a year and was spent locally. and jake is a good man for all he donates.

the paper really upsets me during the calving season hundreds of calves are killed. they state that the eagles come in and kill them and never state nothing about bears and wolves..they also go on and say that this year they did a poor count.

terrible writing for not stating the real facts..

not trying to start a bunch or arugments here just thought i would post the info from the aritcle

Do you really expect anything other than falsehoods and BS from any of the media nowadays? If you do you're living with blinders on brother!!!

Yea, the Bozeman paper had a article about the decline. The conclusion sentence read that "We (F and Game dept.) really don't know why the elk have declined". Really?????

it seems like one day the game and fish want to do something about it and the next come out and post stupid info.

it just really frustrates me. is the game and fish just scared to really come out and say it. i go to most of the wolf meetings and bring up how sickening it is on the damage they have done and they just respond in were doing what we can or i am making up stuff..

I think the wolves are nothing but a pestilence and I have seen what they did to an area I used to hunt in the Middlefork (Idaho).
My recommendation to all, look for a collar then pull the trigger. It is the only way the wolves will be managed. I guess a
San Francisco judge might disagree but that is the way I feel. Of course I'm not admitting to shooting any wolves.... just sayin.
If you are shooting a 300 wsm or better I guarantee it will be a pass through shot. I think if sportsmen simply came together on this issue as conscientious objectors to the policy then that would be that. Course it could be a matter of self defense but if people don't start keeping the wolves in check things will get much worse.

Of course they are not going to tell everyone how they really feel. They want management period. But why throw fuel on the fire? No sense in getting the green commies all riled up. I hope they are careful in representing themselves so we can have management back at the state level. You folks who do not have wolves in your state or hunt states that do are clueless. It goes beyond what is reported. No one will ever know the lasting impact. So hopefully we will be able to hunt them again in the near future and play our part in management.
