Maybe a stupid question

So this may be a really stupid question but i just wanted to hear what others thought. What are the odds of a bull coming back to the same wallow year after year. My uncle had a limited muzzy taq last year and has some trail camera pics of what I think is a 370 bull hitting a wallow over and over for a month or more. Would that be his wallow and would he come back again I have enough points to draw the unit for archery and would shot the bull in a heart beat and if he did come back how much length would he put on considering its a good year?

I don't know if it is 'his' wallow or not but if he survived the other hunts and the winter, chances are good he will return to the same area.

I believe elk are a creatures of habbit. I have patterned herds in the same location year after year doing the same thing and there is a strong possibility he would have the same habbits the following year if left alone. Growth would depend on age and water / food source. He might put more on or if he is an old bull, he might be on the decline.

I have watched the same bull use the same bed and wallow for three years in a row
The bull Ive seen doing this has been a herd bull.I'm sure that has to decide a lot of it.He will move his cows where he wants them to go

There are elk on our property that re-visit the same wallow year after year. I'm convinced they are the same bulls.

Some of it might depend on how much water is in the area too.
Drier areas probably have a better chance of being re-visited the following years by the same bull(s).

Just 2 cents worth....

I believe that the herd bulls comes back in to the same area to rut year after year with his cows, I seen bulls rutting/rubbing in the same place year after year and I think most of them are the same bulls and they use the same wallows.

I read in a book that the elk patterns are set more by the lead cow than the bulls. If the cows come back to the area you are hunting I'm guessing that bull will be there chasing them and still coming to the same wallow. On the private ground we hunt the elk have the same pattern almost every year. They rub in the same grove of trees. They seem to have a 3 day circle around or property and it is very consistent unless they are disturbed. I think the bigger question would be does he make it through the winter.

If he survived the winter and nobody whacked him I would say he may come back to the same area. But with wallows it seems like it depends on the year and how many there are in the area. I have seen bulls come back the next year.
