Second Leg Success

As I mentioned in my "First Leg Success" post, UThunting, along with his wife and daughter drew 4 great deer tags this year, You saw Amy's great looking 4x5 in that post, and many wished them luck on the next hunts.

Well yesterday, on the last day of the hunt, Clynt took his family out looking for a buck for 13 year old Kaelee. She had the opportunity to shoot a few small bucks but past. Yep, if you want to shoot big bucks, you have to pass on the small ones.

She said lets go hiking. While glassing, Amy spotted a white rump over a half mile away up in the ledges. Clynt checked through the spotter and it was a good buck. It took them over 2 hours to get around and above it. Not knowing for sure where he was, they hiked the last few hundred yards in their socks.

Clynt was looking down the ridge and spotted an antler right below them. Like 10 ft below them. Kaelee snuck up on the edge and peering over, tried to look through the scope. She couldn't see the buck. She turns the power down on the scope, leans out, turns the safety off and pops him, pistle style from less than 3 yards. Clynt catches all of that on the camera over her shoulder. The buck just rolled over and died. This is footage you got to see. Some of the cooolest stuff I've ever seen on film. And this buck is bigger than moms.

Once again, I congratulate the UTHunting family on a great hunt.
Great spotting by Amy, great composure by Kaelee, great camera work by Clynt. Family team effort all the way.

Now for your viewing pleasure, heres a few pics.

WARNING: The second picture is graphic. But this is a hunting site and we do kill things. Don't hold that against them. I decided to post it. Criticize me if you like. I can take it.

I have a mule deer movie that has a shot like that... they lean over a small ledge and pop him from about 10 ft, he was bedded though.

Great deer for the girl, glad she is happy with it!

Congrats to the young lady on a well earned Buck and great pictures(video) too.
I remember last year while over in NV and with NVMDF2 he showed me a video he filmed when he was helping a friend during archery season for deer. He got it on film with a downward shot and the arrow went through the top back of Buck, and as the buck ran off along the ridge trail, you could see the broadhead sticking out from under the belly, totally awesome video.

Holy crap Larry you weren't kidding!!!

Congrats to Kaelee!!! That's pretty neat!:)

She's gonna spend a lot of her life trying to get a better buck! And my guess is that's as close of a rifle shot as she'll ever get.

Awesome!

DAYUM! DAYUM! DAYUM! DAYUM!

Sweet pics! One of the coolest posts I've seen here! Great picture of the buck down the barrel! Then, the buck dead! Then to top it off it's a youngster that shot it! To top THAT off it was all done by a pretty girl!! Congrats to the huntress from The Chef! Way to show us "boys" how it's done!

Fantastico.

Oh wow! That is awesome. That is a heckuva buck. WTG Kaelee! Score another one for the girls. That guy has a HUGE body. Look how big his neck is already, too. WOW.

Let me know if you want to put that video here on MM, I can help ya render it and host it. And no, Im not making a hunting DVD.....Congrats again.

Don't apologize for the the second photo. The sequence of photos really captures what hunting is all about.

The first shows the intensity of the hunt, the expectation. The second photo shows the reality and you almost feel that moment of mixed emotion of viewing the beauty and majesty of the muledeer with a little bit of regret having ended its life.
The following pics show the elation of a successful hunt and the respecting of the trophy by capturing it in some enduring form for future memories.

Thanks for sharing the experience in such a unique and special way.

My daughter has taken six bucks in a row and we have tags for an upcoming hunt in a couple weeks. Here's to wishing Kaelee continue success in all her future hunts.
