Idaho Opener Buck

Well we went in about 1 1/2 hours before light so we could be where we wanted to be by light. We were almost there when I spotted this buck in the brush about 150 yds above us. we watched him for a while to make sure he was at least a 4 point and to let it get a little lighter. I told my son to go ahead and take a shot. He missed 2 shots and the guy I go hunting with alot missed a shot. I decided to take a try at his head so if I missed my boy would get another crack at him, I didn't miss. OH well. My son was happy that I got him anyway. We hunted for about 4 more hours and got him a shot at another 4 point which he shot just low twice. He had fun even though he didn't fill his tag today and although he was ready for a rest when we got back, he is ready to go again this weekend. This is his second year hunting so he wants a decent 4 point, so we are being picky the 1st week.
I tried to upload some pics, but it says there is an error. anyone willing to post them for me? if so, this buck was shot on the backside of the knoll in the background. Thanks

Sounds like you guys had a good hunt. Also sounds like some fine shooting took place.

nice deer. good luck to your boy. looks like juniper in the background. Is that SE Idaho?

Thank You Desert for posting the pics. I appreciate it. We hike in a ways to hunt this area, but I fix alot of fence every year for the owner of the land that borders the area, so he allows me to drive in to recover any animals I get. Saves me alot of dragging time. We were hoping to find the 2 bigger bucks we have been watching for about a month, but they were no shows this morning. Hopefully one will be back in there saturday. Good luck to everyone on thier hunts.

Yes it is SE Idaho. The rest of the area is mostly scrub maples and mahoganies

Congratulations. Great buck, especially when you compare it to what most hunters in SE Idaho end up with.
