Do any of you foresee a possible drop in Wasatch application #'s because of the talked about overcrowding and too many tags? My heart is still set on the Wasatch archery hunt, and I'm just coming into decent chances of drawing.

I think apps for the Wasatch unit will be at an ALL TIME HIGH.

Thanks to BerryBlaster, and Awholelotta..:)

My App is in and that is what I put in for. Wasatch Archery.
Do you think I will dray with 9 points.

Jeff

I think alot of people will be applying for the wasatch in hopes of burning their points this year. Its amazing the tag numbers they give out on that unit. It will be interesting to see the tag numbers this year.

A lot of people drew it with no more than 4 points last year. I am guessing 9 will do the trick. I doubt it changes much, they give out so many tags that the odds will still be decent even if more people put in for that hunt.

My wife and I put in last year for archery and we didn't draw with 6 points. Hoping to draw this year.

I didn't look at it from the opposite side, more apps may very well be what happens, but I hope not. 9 points should draw for sure, I have 6 and maybe I'm being a little too optimistic. Either way I'm keeping hope alive!

That's gives me just a little more hope, thanks! Did you fill your tag? If so, let's see a photo.

Bowhunt, I'm flattered buddy but I highly doubt that this old guys oppinion counts for much. Like was said above, I think that people will apply for the Wasatch to burn their elk points. You see it every year in the upper end point pools. People get tired of waiting for a San Juan tag and just want to hunt. I think the Wasatch and the Manti pick up hunters like this every year.

It's always an adventure!!!

The 5 dollar a gallon gas will turn some folks to apply close to home (SLC) others farther away will not apply. IMO

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

I just don't see how the big bull numbers can ever hold out on the Wasatch with over 400 LE tags given out each year, and who knows how many tags for 2011. I guess it is one of the larger units in the state with decent elk numbers but 400 LE tags plus the spike hunt = a bunch of dead bulls.

How did people do in the unit last year?

I shot a 6x7 355 bull with alot of character. If he was the same on both sides he would be in the high 370s. Im not bragging but I saw some sweet bulls but I took this bull because of his uniqueness if thats a word. The big boys are there but most guys will not go to far off the main road to get one.

Com'on Cam, don't ruin it!!!! You can't just drive down a road and shoot a 400" bull outta the back of your truck?????? If that's the case I'll never apply in that Unit!!!!!!

It's hard to speculate anymore where the majority will apply. You just never know until the application data is posted. Most of the hunters do their homework just like everyone else and try and increase their chances at drawing a quality permit. I do know several people that feel their best chances at obtaining an elk permit is applying for Wasatch archery elk.
