Unit 69/84 Colorado

Any of you guys ever elk hunt in unit 69/84? I'm considering using my 3 points and drawing 1st season rifle tag. It says in the CDOW big game guide that Deer Park, Williams Creek, and Reville Canyon are good areas. I just don't want to waste 3 points.

The majority of the elk in these two units are on private property and for the size of the units there arn't that many, I think the population is around 1,600. Any of the western units would be a better choice if your hunting BLM.

I looked into unit 69 this year also, if you do a web search on it you will find a few outfitters with info on the unit. From what I saw they shoot some real nice elk there every year! The only problem is it was almost all private, and the cost to hunt on the private was very high. For the same price I could have bought a land owners tag in 61.

Thats just what I got out of looking at unit 69, but I dont know much about the unit, it might have some good public areas.

HTG - Thanks for the help. I thought there might have been something to the high success rate in the rifle seasons. Private land makes sense.
