Hey everyone! Just checking to see who is hunting mule deer in new mexico and see who has done any good. I hunted in September for 2 days in unit 31 and came up with nothing. I guess I will have to wait for my January rut hunt and see what it produces. I saw alot of good bucks last year during the rut but I had already rifle hunted. So this year I hope to do better with a bow in hand. Good luck every one!

I have a muzzleloader hunt in unit 31 but it is the same time as my elk hunt so I might not go deer hunting unless I get my elk early.

Was that you (in a white chevy) that I kept running into over by lake avelon last year during the rut. I hunted the bow hunt down there last year and saw a lot of good bucks but either couldn't get quite close enough or if I did there wasn't enough cover to get my bow drawn. I would be willing to bet that it was me that you kept running into out by the lake. I have been watching those deer out there for about 4 years now. Last year I was out there every chance I could get scouting and taking pictures of bucks. In fact, I was out there yesterday and today scouting. There are alot of does and fawns right now, but the bucks are keeping a low profile. Well good luck with your elk hunt and if you tag out early come over by the lake for a muley and I bet you see me again. Like I said, I am always out there somewhere! Just look for the big white GMC!
