Is there any truth to the rumor that the Utah elk LE dates will be moved next year (2012)? Like the muzzy/archery more in the rut and the rifle out of the rut? If so, what's the plan?

That's what the StickFlippers want!

If We're moving Hunts out of the Rut,We're moving them all out of the Rut!

I don't care if they're big or small!
If they throw lead I like em all!

I can imagine they want to hunt in the rut. I think they should all be moved out as well. But at this point is it just hearsay?

I can't out-guess what the DWR will pull off next?

Just when you think you've seen it all,Na,you'll see them pull something even Stupider!

"Even stupider"....like keeping the thunder sticks right in the middle of the rut??" I do like your idea though...NO hunts during the 3rd and 4th weeks in september.

bowhunters better be careful what they wish for. because if they are trying to get elk into 60 yards. after either muzzy hunters or rifle hunters have already been calling and shooting at the elk. they are in for a whole differant ball game.they got it good right now being the first ones able to hunt the units

Let's just swap the archery and rifle dates. That should make everyone happy.:)

No kidding...next thing you know they will let guys hunt elk with the most effective weapon at the peak of the rut.

What would be 'stupider' than that?

Or, lets follow what the more successful states do for growing and maintaining a trophy elk herd. Move the muzzy and the rifle out of the rut. (See AZ, NM, MT, etc.) I am even ok with shutting hunting down the last week or so of September to give the big bulls some privacy and just leave the archery hunt where it is currently...
