I was lucky and got one manti mozzy tags at the hunting expo. I have a few questions. We are going to bring horses and mules just wondering about trailheads and accessibility during the mozzy season ? Is there quite a bit of water available for stock ? Going to make a trip down this summer to get a lay of the land and road systems. Or anyone has info where we should start our hunt off and what i should expect for bulls?
Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Mar-05-11 AT 09:50PM (MST)[p]I don't have a real good clue i was just seeing if anyone could set me off on the right foot and get in to the elk. the tag is central mt manti. I'm from wy so i wont be doing much scouting before the hunt. i think we well go like a week early or right at the end of the early rifle and see what we can find. so if any on has any tips or pointers i would really appreciate the advice.

If you are not going to beable to get any scouting in, you may want to consider finding a guide. there are several good ones that call the Manti their home.

Having said that, if you are not going to hire a guide, you will be leaving a lot to chance. The Manti is a huge unit, with lots of roads and lots of water. You can honestly say that there are elk all over the unit, but that does not mean that good bulls are easy to find. Start with Maps, Maps and more Maps. Google earth can be helpful, and I would make sure that I gave one of the local wildlife biologists a call.

Congratulations and good luck with the tag.
