WOW! Really quick kill, even with the bull quartering hard towards hunter. Not the best judgment on the hunters part, with archery equipment, but it worked! Congrats to the hunter.

I would have to agree with hangfire on that one! The guy got real lucky and hit the jugular, but what if it had been an inch or two either way? I've definitely never seen one bleed like that, but then again I've never seen anybody shoot at a big game animal at a bad angle like that and hit that spot either.

Great quick kill. While not a shot most hunters would take, there is about a softball sized vital entrance in the front that if hit, while slice the heart and all the main arteries coming and going into the heart. Incredibly fast way to take an animal. Normally reserved for distances where you can hit a quarter 10 out of 10 times. Congrats.

Great footage. I'll bet he was excited.

Fixed or Expandable broadhead?

That was freaking amazing. I've seen animals die quickly from arrows before but that was just plain insane.

that was the shot i put on my buck bedded at 50 yards with my trusty hoyt, pumped blood like crazy and crashed hard. Thought i missed until I saw all of the blood gushing out of him. awesome shot. hard one though especially with a bow

He actually made a routine shot and great center mass shot. Its a more ethical shot than the emphamis texas heart shot. heck its a better shot than hitting them to back back when turned broadside which many archers have a tendacy to do. 20 yards shooting at a huge animal with vitals the size of a basketball. Even if you were 3 inches to one side you would still punch a lung and cause massive hemoraging. If I could not make that shot then Im not field ready. Like someone else said if you can hit a quarter at that range, then the shot is not risky. Nice shot.

Wow that was quick! From impact of the arrow to when the bull hits the dirt was about 6 seconds! Some of the quickest archery bull kills I've seen has been frontal shots like this one but I don't think I've ever seen one go down that fast. Thanks for the video!

LOL! Thats was a good shot. I have killed all my elk that way. Not by choice. But that was the only shot I was offered. I shot one at 29 yards that way and he did with in an hour and I have shot another that way at 19 yards and he died just as fast as the one in the video. If you know what your doing its a fine shot if you don't, don't. I am more than confident in that shot thats why I took it. I am not trying to brag and say that I am the best, I just know what my limitations are as an arhcery hunter and I have been archery hunting long enough to know what to do and what not to do. But good for the guy that shot him.

top gun its a good thing your an awsome ethical hunter, it makes up for all of us that know what our equipment can do and make awsome shots when it counts to seal the deal, if you were a better shot or hunter you might not have to be so "ethical"(read scared/incompetent) and you would probably have some more/bigger animals to prove it.cbryant

Awsome!!! That pocket is devestating when you hit it. I've killed two hitting them in the front, and have seen several others killed to. Every time, down within seconds!!!

Great kill, and definitely a good video. Although I agree that, that is a kill spot. I think I would reserve that shot for a time when a bull is standing dead still 20 yards or under. Think he might have gotten a little lucky on that one.........

Yea it kind of looks like he wasn't trying to hit where he did but who knows. The outcome is the same either way but I agree that there might have been a bit of luck involved with that shot. If I remember correctly in the descriptions of the video the blogger said it was the shooters first hunt and he got caught up in the moment.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-26-11 AT 02:58PM (MST)[p]Ive killed several deer and a few bulls with that same shot,if you dont like it fine, but to call it a bad shot....completly unfounded.Ive had deer hit the same way DRT,ive had elk make it 50 yards, but they all died quickly.
