My 18 year old son shot this buck yesterday evening. He made a great shot and kept his composure better than me or our friend that helped us.

I don't know how to say it...
I would be so damn proud of my son.
He is able to overcome adversity and succeed at something he enjoys.
My heartfelt congratulations go out to both of you.
He must be as proud of you as you are of him.
Good job dad.

Tell your son congrats on a very nice buck. That is one to be very proud of.

Thanks guys, for the positive comments. This is his fourth muley buck and he shot a nice antelope a couple years ago. This is his best so far. He measures just a hair over 25 inches wide and is a very symmetrical 4x4.

I have to thank the friend that was with us, though. He secured permission for us to hunt a lot of private ground through people he knew and he scouted and had other people looking too. We were very fortunate this year to be able to hunt some areas that don't usually allow much access.

Of course my son gets the real credit though for making a difficult shot. The first shot was looking straight into the sun at about 330 range finder yards. He missed that shot and the deer was actually spooked towards us by the sound of the bullet smacking beyond him. That's when my composure sort of got shaky but as usual, "O" stayed calm and drilled him on the second shot, still at 300 yards. He has now killed 3 deer and the antelope with his 243 with 8 bullets. His other deer was killed with a muzzleloader.

Great job, sounds like he might have planned that anxiety for you DAD..........LOL.......congrats to you and your son........... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

Great story, and an awesome buck. Thanks for reminding us all what hunting is all about. The deer is secondary!! The smile is priceless!!!!

Real nice deer! Congrats to both of you but since your son did all the work and had the tougher job (calming you down) I have to tip the scales big in his favor! That buck will make a nice mount! Enjoy.

Oh my god, the lurker posts!

No, I have folded and framed the old gray shirt for posterity. Maybe I'll loan it to the "team" for luck. :)

"lurker"? way to make me sound like a sicko. Maybe i'll post
again when YOU and the TEAM make it back from stonewall.
When are you going to e-amail the pic's of the mouse?PS Do you
want to sign up for a run to the eldorado's this weekend?

Can't make the Eldorados. Too many things going on. Wish I could, especially on your dime. When are you leaving?

Cheap O, jk i'm probably going to leave Thurs. afterwork and go
to Beatty and then go the rest of the way on Fri and stay until
Sun. And its not my dime, i don't do anything for free especially drive the 500 miles at 3$ a gallon.
