The luck continued for my wife this last weekend. On the first evening we spotted this buck with two smaller bucks. We made a long stalk and after a long shot she connected on her best buck. It was awesome having lil' IB there with us on the hunt. It adds a whole new dimension to hunting when hiking, glassing, and stalking with little ones. We made it all happen and he was a trooper even when it got cold and had to hike back out of the hole we were in. 1 mile of straight uphill, thick buck brush, and pitch dark would ruin a lot of kids but the lil' man hung in there. I was very proud of both of them.

You are living a life a lot of us envy. Congrats to the wife on a beautiful buck. You have a great family.

Really nice buck and a super story and pics. Congrats to you, your wife and son. The world needs a lot more families like you.

Just out of curiosity, why did you not bone out the buck? He'd be a lot lighter without his bones. Is there some sort of Idaho rule that prohibits boning out a buck?

NICE buck and Family pics!!!

But................next time, chop those flippin' legs & hooves off!! Unless you plan on eating them or something?? That'll save a few pounds of weight for the pack out!!

Good Job!!

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. It was an awesome hunt thats for sure.

It isn't against the law to bone out your deer in Idaho. I usually will do so if I have a harder pack out then what I did. I had a little over a mile to go with a only about 1/2 of it being pretty step. Also I like to keep the legs on for the ease of hanging the meat.

bowhunter223 - Thanks for the advice on the legs I never thought about that. That 3-4 pounds would of saved my back for sure. :) This may sound weird but I wanted my pack as heavy as I could get it. I'm heading to Alaska in 2 weeks and wanted to get in shape for it.
