LAST EDITED ON May-19-11 AT 03:38PM (MST)[p]I accomplished a big goal last year when I took my first elk. ( STORY ) The goal of getting a bull consumed me and now that it has been accomplished, I'm in need of a new goal. I've decided to try for the the "Elk Slam". My goal is to take all 3 species of elk with my bow and for all 3 to qualify for P&Y. I'd like to do this solo DIY as well. I currently have max points in California (9-resident) and expect to draw a Tule tag sometime soon. I was planning on hunting Colorado OTC the year but have switched my sites to Oregon OTC in hopes of getting the Roosevelt. From what I've reserched I expect the Roosie to bethe hardest. So has anyone here completed the "SLAM" or in the process of completeing it. Would love to hear some advice, stories and see some pics.

The Tule elk is a difficult hurdle for most people, especially non-residents of CA. I've taken plenty of Rocky and Roosevelt elk, but will probably never have the opportunity to hunt a Tule elk. I'd be happy to hunt then, but it just isn't a priority / big deal for me. I doubt they are that much different to hunt than an "ordinary" elk.
Good luck in your quest.

If you truly want the elk grand slam...there are 4 subspecies...the three you all have listed plus the Manitoban Elk. Which by its name I'm guessing you can figure out where it is located around. Just another reason to extend your elk hunting goal. Good luck
