The ATV ( quad ) and Hunting...

Being a 40+ plus year ground pounder Deer hunter, and wild Hog hunter...

Here?s the story....

A few years ago my brother and I are hunting Utah, Beaver, My brother in good heath, begins to physically fail, new cholesterol meds.... I was scared to death... I mean, this guy is the ultimate hunting buddy...I came upon him... and thought! God almighty... how to get him outta here, lucky for us... the Cox Brothers out of Beaver were close by with Quads... never batted an eye, totally unselfish loaded my brother up on a 4 wheeler and hauled him out to a major road where the truck was waiting... after some meds Adjustments all is well....
Another Year, a fellow hunter down a very large Buck.. I mean BIGGGG.... another storm was approaching... and he had thought about parting the Buck out like an old car... Or... hanging and marking for a return attempt to collect him... Again, one of the locals, the Cox family, is able to find a path with a quad. to collect the Buck... Great guys... never ask or expect anything...
We did bring up a guy who went tear assing around on his quad.. Needless... he's not been invited to hunt with us... Ever again..
Went to the Utah opener... no tags.. No rifles... and for the 1st time I rode a 660 grizzly, unlimted ducks edition... I'm sold, no more beating the hell outta my truck... Stay on the roads... Get off and go hunting...

Thanks guys for your time reading this post

Great stories, keep them on the LEGAL roads and we wont have to worry about Bess giving them a tune up. LOL

LAST EDITED ON Oct-27-06 AT 03:12PM (MST)[p]Cool! thanks deerlove!

please know i'm not trying to pick a fight with BOBCAT... its just maybe? sometimes? the offroad tracks could have a different meaning... for something, other than guys just trying to get there first! IMHO..

I hunted Co area 2 this year and it was nice driving around on the ATV to our spot compared to bouncing around in the pickup. If used reasonably they are a nice tool.

"The Cox brothers out of Beaver"! Buuuuaahahahaahaaaa!!!!!!

I have a kawaski mule that I plan on taking this year for two reasons. One is my two twelve year old daughters are going with me and I dont want to listen to the crying that we have walked to far and that they are tired of sitting, if I keep them some what entertained I hope they will want to go again. I am not planning on driving all day that is not hunting but I plan on having a good time. Two is I dont want to tear up my truck I bought this thing for my land to haul hay and do chores but if I can use it to have fun I am all for it and its street legal. This will be the first time I have ever hunted from a (4 wheeler) And I will stay on the marked roads thanks for letting me vent
