Book Cliffs general elk

Thanks Andyman, that's what I was hoping. According to my account, I pulled an archery deer tag, but I was hoping my old man would have something to hunt, so I could convince him to come down with me.

I was hoping they would cancel the spike only hunt out there as well. Not enough bulls to be killing the spikes and give out lots of LE tags.

LAST EDITED ON May-23-11 AT 03:15PM (MST)[p]Cool, I know a few units are like that...... Thanks, My bad for not double checking.

edit - it looks like Book Cliffs, Monroe, and Paunsaugunt are the units where cows are a no-go with archery

No problem Andy, just did not want someone getting in trouble on a simple error. I wish they would close that spike hunt out there. It has quite high success for the rifle hunt.

Wait until the second part of the proclamation comes out at the end of this month.

Rumor has it that the Book Cliffs will be strickly limited entry with no spike hunting.

So be careful before you go out there hunting and make sure the hunt is still available after the second guidebook is printed.

From what I have read, (I was not there) it was brought up at the RAC or board meeting, but it did not pass. IMHO, the bull to cow ratio out there is way out of wack and the spike hunt needs to be stopped immediately. Tons of cows and not very many bulls, especially mature bulls. Still, an awesome place to have a tag...
