Its camo and has huntin' stuff in it. Just kidding Rick! Nice of you to think of posting. Might hit hunting huntingnet.com as well. Hopefully who ever lost it will be on line and catch it.

that sucks....they may still be hunting though,,,that really sucks for that guy,, i hope he reads this post...cbryant

Have you called the local sherrifs/law enforcement department or the DOW? If I lost one, those are the first places I would call.

venor, ergo sum (I hunt, therefore I am)

txhunter58 I checked with the Game & Fish deer check station and Jacob's Lake store with no luck. Not much else up there as it's a fairly remote area. Hopefully they are still hunting as season goes till Sunday.

Did it have a camera and a pair of sunglasses in it?
If so, I met the guys father in law at Jacob Lake. He said it fell of the ATV when they left the check station heading back to the restaurant. He said it was a $600 camera and a $100 pair of sunglasses. His son in law wanted to leave the hunt early because he felt sick to his stomach from losing the pack.

They still might be up there. The Father is from Phx.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-30-06 AT 07:08PM (MST)[p]Want to add, they were staying at the Inn as well. The Father looks like an Italian guy Robert DeNiroish. Real nice guy, about 67 but looks 55. Met him eating at the restaurant at dinner that same night. I want to say he drives a Jeep Liberty Diesel but is driving a Polaris on the roads. Hope it's them and kudos to you for returning something you found.

Chef is that the guys name Robert DeNiriosh and is he staying at the Jacob's Lake cabins? Do you know if he's still up there? Rick

Nooooo! LOL
He looks kind of like Robert DeNiro the actor!

He might still be at the cabins since he is hunting together with his son-in-law. I called AZbowhntr and left a message with him. They are camped on the West side but will try to make it into Jacob Lake sometime to see if they can find the guy. I left your tel # with AZbowhntr so he can give it to the guy if he finds him.

If you make it that way, look for the Jeep Liberty I suppose. Or go to the lobby and see if they are still there. Wish I had more to go on but hope it helps. Would be nice to get it back to him, would definitely make his day.

Yep hopefully he'll get the message tomorrow. She said they had no phones in the rooms. Looks like it will work out, thanks guys. Rick

Just an update, David made contact with me today and it is his backpack. He is one happy hunter for sure and will pick it up later this week. He hasn't harvested a deer yet but his father in-law filled his tag. Chef thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Did you get a deer? Rick

That's great news Nitemann! Tell them I was the guy asking how his chicken sandwich was! I'm the one he told to stay away from the pork chops as I told him to stay away from the "bull" burger! LOL

Didn't draw a tag so no buck for me. Orlin is still up there and he's holding out for "El Monstro" The guys have passed on a lot of bucks and are content to come home empty handed.

I had the pleasure to meet Bura up there as well. He is a class act and helped us out tremendously.

Met Don Martin too and wish him and his clients luck.

Eelgrass! That's him!!! LOL

All in all, this is truly a feel good story and I'm happy to have helped out. Can't say enough about you Nitemann, you are welcome in my camp anytime.

Thanks for kind words, just doing what I thought was right. I know I would of wanted it back, lots of good stuff in there. I was guiding my 73 year old dad, hes gotten a lot slower over the years but still dreams about being in the BAB. Hes not a trophy hunter but I was wanting to get him a decent buck for what may be his last tag the way the draws go. I messed up when a group of bucks moved out of the canyon bottom we where glassing that had a pretty nice three point buck in the bunch. They stopped at a ranged 405 yds and I told my dad to shoot the second deer from the right. The buck dropped at the shot and he was the happiest hunter in northern Arizona. When we got over to him I had told him to shoot the wrong deer but he still got a nice tall fat two point that aged at two years old at the check station. His smile in the photos is priceless to me. We were actually camped right accross from Don Martin and got to visit with him for a while as well, hes a great guy. Would of liked to met you as well, take care. Rick

Congrats on being a good samaritan. If we had a lot more people like you this world be a lot better off.

I have always had pleasant experiences with the folks out west and it looks like you are doing your part to keep the western hospitality. Good job.

My hat is off to you Nitemann big time and to your dad for raiseing you right.Same to you Chef.

This is my first time on Monster Mulies. It is nice to see I'm in good company. I am trying to post a message and have not figured it out quite yet. My hunt starts next week (10/10 east side). Any ideas, are the deer still up top?

That's awesome Nitemann. If you ever need help on a hunt, I'll bet you've just bought a lot of good will on this site.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-07-06 AT 05:58PM (MST)[p]Hey Monster Muley Family,

I'm the guy that was hunting up in Kaibab that lost his backpack. Thanks to MM and a lot of luck, it was found and all is good. I would like to thank everyone for their help, especially Chef and Nitemann. You guys have restored my faith in humanity. It's good to know that in the brotherhood of hunting, there are still great people out there that care about others.

So thank you, Nitemann, for your honesty and integrity - it's something the world is lacking these days.

May God bless all of the Monster Muley family with the sun at your back, the wind on your face, and a large buck in your crosshairs!

Sincerely,

DSF

P.S. - Yes, my father-in-law does look like Robert DeNiro, but he doesn't think so!

David,
Hope you found a place to spend some time with you meeting us here. If you get a chance post up a pic of your Father-in-Laws buck. I know it had been a long time since he shot his last on on the Kaibab. Tell him Congrats.
