THANKS

One word for you... KENETREK. The schnees look really similar in construction though. Also look into the lowa sheep hunters, they are some of my favorites.

Everyone has their preference. I like the Danner Pronghorns. Nice and light, and the E width fits my foot great.

If you want a boot that lasts I steer clear of danner.. I used to wear pronghorns up until I went to kenetreks and I seriously was lucky to get 2 seasons out of them.. Danner's quality has really gone down IMO since they started producing a good majority of their boots over seas.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-07-11 AT 05:42AM (MST)[p]Just picket up a pair of Lowa Tibets through Shoebuy.com for $221 with free shipping both ways (hassle free returns, just don't wear them outside).

Normally a $340+ boot, they are on sale for $307. Apply the discount promotion code "summer" and get 20% off. For first time buyers, you get another 10% off when you register.

Several reviews have suggested buying these particular boots 1/2 size larger than normal.....and they run on the narrow side. So, if you are an in between width like me....go with the wide.

Tough to find a good fitting boot over the internet, but the free shipping and return policy is fantastic.

My personal favorite are the "Cabela's All-Leather Mountain Hikers Boot". I've been using my first pair for 4 years now, this will be the 5th and I've put a lot of miles on them with my backpacking trips. Also you can get a dang good deal on them if you wait for a cabelas sell.

Merrell Reflex Mid GORE-TEX Hiker. Light weight, water proof an excellent early fall hunting shoe. Just wore out my last pair after three years of serious abuse. Excellent gripping tread on the steep stuff. Very, very comfortable, they are like wearing running shoes but provide the necessary ankle support.

So for an archery elk hunt, I feel they are ideal. I wear mine every year for scouting and bowhunting.
