I can't wait to see what the permit holders take this year. Should be a great hunt. Everything is in their favor, a nice break between general season and this hunt, cold weather and snow up high with snow expected down low tomorrow, and the rut getting under way. I'm very jealous! If the guys hunting can hold off on all the smaller bucks they see we should see some real pigs taken this year!

Garrett, your back. Wheres the Montana pictures? How you do. I cant wait to here. Im leaving tommorrow at noon for Montana, I gotta here how you did before I leave. James

Ya Garrett, we want to know how you did back there.

Bearhunter....where you headed over there? I'm leaving tonight to go do some elk huntin' south of Missoula till Monday. Gotta be back for the game Monday night. :)

Im leaving sunday for MT myself, after a little meat cutting session with the bull I got last Sat...good luck to those WA tag holders!

I leave on the 15th for MT. Don't have any tags ( first time in three years) Next year I hope to draw. but a friend has some doe tags. I'm just going to see friends, a bunch of bucks that I can't shoot and might buy a bird licence and try and shoot some phesants ( sp?)

From talking to friends it sounds like there was not much weather during the regular deer season to move the big bucks down. So with a little weather for the late hunts there should be some good hunting. Good luck.

I'M PUMPED!!!! I have the next 18 days to go find a dandy in Slide Ridge. Should be a great hunt with the weather the way it is. Living here in Wenatchee it should be pretty easy for me to get away from college to go whack one. Saw some really good antler growth this year, so it should be a great hunt. Good luck to everybody else.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-01-06 AT 01:11PM (MST)[p]Good luck everyone, good luck Crabcreekhunter. You guys should do amazing.

And all you montana boys, get ready to see some awesome antler growth and some really fat deer.

My trip was amazing, didnt pull the trigger. Dad and i were babysitting a herd of elk on an ajoining ranch hoping they would wonder over. haha, no luck. Also saw some really nice whiteys, and the muleys on this ranch werent big enough for us to shoot just quite yet.

But the good news is that we are going back the 10th to hunt for a week in the rut and fill our tags!!! We didnt want to get all bloody the first trip cause then we couldnt go again haha!!

Keep me us posted on how everybody does here in WA and in Montana!!!

Good luck guys!!

Hey Garrett, I did not draw (7 points) but one of my pals drew Entiat (2 points!!!) so I am going to guide him on the 10th 11th and 12th. He has never been there befor. I have spent 14 days in that country over the last two years from Crum Canyon to Deep Harbor basin so I know it a little. I talked him into not going until the 10th and he has the whole week. Any insite on where I should concentrate our efforts??? all my time there has been in the summer and october, I can see It is much different in mid-November.....Thanks and good luck with your Dads tag!

Bearhunter....let me know how you do over there when you get back. I'll be over there huntin' Muleys the week before Thanksgiving....unless I find one this week instead of an elk. :) Can't wait!

I look forward to seeing some pics when I get back....and maybe sharing a few! :)

The Pogue and Perrygin units ought to be exceptional this year since the fire took out the high country this summer. The deer should be early in the wintering grounds. I wish I had drawn the Pogue this year instead of last year. I couldn't complain though. My 4-point still looks good on the wall.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-01-06 AT 06:50PM (MST)[p]Hey buck blaster,

My Dad and I both drew Pogue this year and I live in Okanogan and it is going to be awesome. Where did you get your buck at? We spotted 1 pretty good buck tonight and I got some pics but I can't seem to post them. It says it is too much data and says error. The Deer are a few days out for the rut. Not much activity yet. Will try and post pics when it happens. Do you got pics of your buck.

I am getting more and more pumped every day. I think getting on this site just gets my blood flowing even more. The 20th is only a few weeks away but I know it won't come soon enough. I will be out and about as much as I can until then. I have a late muzzleload in the Ritzville unit. Here is a picture I took today. Not a big buck but I though I would fire everyone up with a little pre-rut action. This buck just could not stop chasing the does. Nothing better than knowing you have a late tag when the mulies are in the rut. A little snow and we are set. Good luck to all. Lets see some scouting pictures of those bucks before you shoot them too.

I was up the entiat valley today setting up camp. It was pretty cold which is a good sign but no snow up on Tyee. Quite a bit of smoke from the fire that got out of hand up Brenigan Creek. There are still some spots of fire, but should be smothered out with the weather that is hopefully coming. The second weekend should be the best weekend I think once the rut gets them going.

Its snowing snowing snowing!!!!! Its also all fogged in but atleast its cold and snowing you lucky dogs!!!!

Good luck over there guys, glass long and hard and you will find them. Im outa here "work" in 45minutes had to check the site one last time, hope snoqualmie isnt to sloppy where pulling and enclosed trailer. Good luck everone. James

Just went through Ritzeville two days ago. Lot of animals moving around. Friends of ours had great success over there end of modern deer season.

Should be AWESOME this year. We better see some real good pics over the next few weeks of all those big bucks that everyone is going to get, I wish I had a tag this year!

i was wondering about that fire on the north side of tyee... i hunted the chiwawa and could see all the smoke pouring through the vally the last weekend of the general season. how did it start? there weren't any electrical storms that came through so i was thinking it may have been a controlled burn? anyways, like i said i was in the chiwawa so i could only see the smoke, looked like it was prolly a rather large blaze though. good luck to all you tag holders! TAKE PICTURES!!! oh, and the pass is a mess right now so drive safe!

Leaving in a few hours to SE Montana, hope your dad tags the buck hes looking for. I will email you pics of our harvest when I get back, if not sooner. Good luck Garrett and best wishes to your dads big hunt................rf

Huntnphool,

Knock em dead my man!!! It would be awesome if you could snake one with your bow, just to rub it in a little bit more. Good luck, get a monster! And drive safe man. Might pass ya on the way there and your coming back. I will be there the 10th.

Garrett

We don't have permits, but we're gonna hit hard the week of thanksgiving with the bows. Seen a few nice bucks in there last year. Hopefully the weather does its thing again this year. My fingers are crossed.

Good luck to you lucky dogs with the special permits. Can't wait to see what they bring you.

Well the first weekend of my hunt is over and I still have a tag in my pocket. About half way through the weekend I was tempted to go home and get my jet ski to run those mountain roads with all of that water. Saw a couple mature bucks but nothing that I want to put my tag on this early. The deer were all holed up in the dark timber and not moving or migrating at all really. They migrated somewhat when the snow hit thursday night and also saturday night. Need the rut to start so the bucks start pushing the does, saw a couple bucks moving the does. The entiat river was starting to flood pretty bad so we picked up camp from along the river. Was just wondering on which side of the unit do people usually hunt the slide ridge unit the entiat or chelan side? Another question is when did the rut start to happen(entiat, slide ridge, chiwawa, swakane)?

I have a good friend who has a late Teanaway muzzleload tag. He was up there for the opener yesterday and saw a bunch of deer down low on the private ground in the valley(nothing big) and not much of anything up in the Teanaway river and Blewett. Seems like the deer have moved down. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe a little private ground down low to hook him up with or some forest service access down low? We will be going back Friday, and from the sounds of it we should have some colder weather to get the bucks fired back up again. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. He was real fired up last week but yesterday was kinda discouraging for him. Thanks.

I also have a buddy who has a late Chiwawa tag and he hunted both last Sat and Sun. I guess they've been seeing bucks, but nothing too big. This rain and warm weather aint helping too much, but I guess we're supposed to have a cold front move in possibly thursday...

I have been wondering how you have been doing, the conditions are not the best for your hunt, been way to warm and wet. We'll good luck hope you wack a big one.

crabcreekhunter, which permit do you have? Did the heavy rain effect any of your access? When are you going back? I am leaving early sat. morning for the Entiat and will be camping in the Mud creek area. Have you heard if the rut is moving in? I know its a lot of questions, sorry. Good hunting, kill a monster!!!! Finnman

Finnman I have the slide ridge tag. The rain never affected any of our access except on one of the back sides of a burn there was a lot of erosion that might come through the road. I went up in slide ridge today (Wednesday) and saw quite a few does still held up in the dark timber up high with no bucks in with them. I will be up in slide ridge friday through sunday next. I will either be up on the entiat side or down on the chelan side. That really tells you where i am, those are the only two places in the unit sorry i don't really have my game planned worked out right now. I don't think the rut is going real strong though there are a few bucks pushing the does. If your hunting the mud creek area you might want to look into the potato creek area which is higher than mud creek and the deer are probably concentrated in that area more so than mud creek right now. Good luck to you and keep in touch on how you are doing.

Finnman I sent you a PM.

Good luck to all who are heading out this weekend. Lets hope we get that snow at 2500 feet and some cold weather like Mr. weatherman says. The rut should be back in full swing in a few days.

Does anyone have a Desert A tag that is browsing this site? Get a hold of me if you do I can probably make it worth your time.

I would like to see some pictures from some of the new permit hunts this year,Teanaway, etc.

Lets see it guys.

Was out today, Doing a little browsing. Saw one nice 26-28 4x4 and a really heavy 3x3. Also a few does with some little spikes. They are starting to rut, But they are definitly not moving in. just a few trickling in. But it will be like a light switch is flipped on if we get some really cold weather and some snow.

Looking like we're gonna get some white stuff pretty soon. My fingers are crossed.
