unit 52, New Mexico

My group has drawn bull tags for the first rifle season (Oct 15-19) in NM unit 52. None us us have ever been in that area before and We're looking for as much info as we can get--where to camp, suggestions for areas to hunt, best way to come in from (coming from Chicago and Louisiana), special problems in the unit, etc. Thanks!!!!!!

Most people camp at hopewell lake. Hopewell lake is across the hwy from unit 52 in unit 51. Just drive up hyw 64 until you see a big lake on the left hand side of the road. Good elk heard in 52 but nothing big.

It's a pretty spot to hunt. I've only hunted antelope there though.
