We will be heading there in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone on this site has hunted the Custer national forest around Ashland. Any advice would be greatly apreciated and I will help with any Colorado or Wyoming questions you might have. Not looking for your hot spots (unless you want to give them) just general information on the number of deer in the forest and if there is any deer of size running around there (I am in good hiking shape). Thanks Muley7

the long pines can be good get away from the roads...good deer size, 24-28 would be a shooter and also very good whitetails! but get away from the roads and go way back in....

getting away from the roads mean half a mile... There is only about three areas where roads are seperated by more than a mile.

Good luck and I hope you don't get run over by an ATV. Everyone and thier dog hunts out there these days. Don't pass up a 24" 4 point because thats likely all you're gona find.
