Where would you go for your dream Elk hunt? I've hunted both Colorado and Wyoming and enjoyed both states. Is there another state that offers the opportunity for the hunt of a lifetime?

Every state has great units for quanity and quality, a better way about it is asking your self "what type of terrain do I want my dream hunt to be in"

Are you guys kidding me??? Are you forgetting about Utah? Colorado is poop compared to Utah for trophy Elk. If it's your dream to shoot a rag horn every year, sure Colorado is a dream. If you want to wait 15 years for a monster, hunt Utah.

Arizona and New Mexico are also amazing, but most people don't go to COlorado looking for a 400 bull.

HJB, I would have agreed with you a few short years ago. But now in Utah, most of our Premier Elk units (the ones that have been producing the monsters in the past) have all been mis-managed with unlimited Spike hunting and over-harvesting of the trophy bulls. Doyle's hunters kill most of the big ones that show up, and a few other hunters kill the rest. I don't hear of any bulls dieing of old age any more. In fact, the tooth data shows a substantial decrease in the age of harvested bulls.
