I just had a chance to score the big buck that was hanging around U-111 on the west side of Salt Lake. Unfortunately he was hit by a car early this morning. I got a rough score of 225. It is too bad, I have watched this deer for 6 months and was looking forward to getting a chance at his sheds. I knew he was crossing the road and I was afraid that he might get hit. I will post the pics soon.

Dang!! Thats too bad! I was really looking forward to going out and watching him this winter. Who ended up with the horns? DWR?
Cant wait to see the pics. Tragic though that he got killed!!

Jared,

Is that the big buck that was at S.W. this afternoon?

What an awesome buck. Too bad someone ruined his cape. He would have made an awesome mount for the DWR to use in their displays. I am curious what he scores.

Thanks

Is U-111 Baccus highway? If so, I got a peak at that monster when I drove by, two guys were pulled over phoning it in sometime around 10:30 AM. It was a bruiser for sure.

Yep, it is the buck that was at S.W. on Saturday afternoon. U-111 is the Bacchus highway so I am sure you saw the same buck. I wish that I would have had some more time to carefully score him, I am pretty sure he will be close to 230". I didn't have my camera with me so I had to use the DWR officers camera. Once he sends me the pics I will post them.

ya i would mount up behind that buck like i shot it, look at those smiles, you would think they put in 20 days of hunting and that was thier trophy, all smiles, good grief,

I like seeing a picture of it, but since its no ones trophy keep your ugly butt out of it, no one wants to see you up there like you are the proud owner

Why did they drag it all the way to sw? Yep looks like somebody tried to cut his head off, I probably would have done the same.

Give the guys a break, don't judge too quickly, maybe they are smiling because they had the chance to have their picture taken with that trophy!
Maybe they didn't kill it but it is a trophy that was produced in the state of utah therefore i believe that it is the states trophy. Who wouldn't want their picture taken with a deer like that?

That's unfortunate. Man...I have a hard time understanding people sometimes. The last thing I would want to do is jump behind him and have someone start snapping photos. Does it make them feel better about themselves? Pretty sad if ya ask me.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-15-06 AT 00:06AM (MST)[p]bwhntr23 is absolutely right. the fact of the matter is one of the men smiling is a good friend of mine, and he actually found that buck during the summer and has watched it up until now. why would you be critical towards someone who is contributing to this forum in a positive way? sure its sad that this buck was killed by a car, but its still a monster buck and anyone would be glad to hold something so rare. maybe you should just give people the benefit of the doubt before you go ranting and raving. just something to think about next time your out huntin "wabbits".

If this buck was killed out on U-111, that is pretty much the only way anyone was going to get their pic taken with him. If he wouldn't have died from a car, it would have been of old age on private property.

I have a bunch of velvet pictures of him. Geez guys, let the dudes smile. Are we supposed to have a wake for the damn thing? It is dead. That sucks. Still would be fun to see the rack. You guys sound like freakin bunny huggers.

hunterman67 i can see where your coming from on the sportsman wharehouse guy perhaps, i was referring to teterhorn though. i dont know who the guy in the sportsman outfit is.

That is too bad. What a nice deer. As for the photos, thanks for sharing. As for anyone who criticizes those people in the photos, grow up. People smile when someone takes a photo. The fact that the DWR or whomever felt these two should see the deer is likely a testament to the fact they are more than ethical and good sportsmen. Lets not pipe off and criticize anyone we don't know based on a photo.

Honestly, about half the photos posted on here evidence some type of blatant violation, but just be thankful the folks are sharing them. I am. More photos, more smiles, less whining.

My name is Blake I am the one in the photo wearing the sportsmans stuff. I work with the division helping man the poaching hotline. I was the one that took the call and passed all of the info on the the dwr officer. he was in the area helping another officer out and he hadn't gone to drop the deer off yet so I had asked him to bring it by so I could see the magnificent buck. I am sorry that I have a Sportsmans shirt on I was at work, so sorry everyone, it is not posted at the store or at least to my knowledge, if you notice i wasn't even the one that posted it on here. Maybe because I volunteer countless volunteer hours helping man the hotline that was his way of saying thank you for all of your help. what you do does make a difference.

Man I can't believe that someone would harvest a monster buck and NOT EVEN FIELD DRESS IT.

Come on people, I know your proud to kill a buck like that but at least take the time to gut it.

Wheres the field pics anyway?

Anyway congrats to the sportsmans guy on harvesting a true monster.

It is unfortunate but this buck was hit by a car crossing the road from private property to the private property on the other side of the road. this buck would have never been harvested by a hunter, it would have died of old age or been killed by a predator

I guess you want to see these guys in the photo's crying and wearing suits mourning like they are at a funeral. IT?S A DAM DEAD DEER!!! Who cares if someone is smiling in the photo. All the pall bears wore Sportsman Warehouse Shirts for the funeral.

Utah DWR law enforcement drive around with dead deer in their trucks all the time, they are never in a hurry to cut the antlers off and then go to the landfill.

Kudos to Blake for helping out with sports in general here in Utah.

Personally, I hope that the DWR gives that rack to Sportsmans Wharehouse as a thank you for your efforts.

Finally, less deer would be hit by cars if more drivers were paying attention. . . .

I am not positive but although he's definetly a massive buck, i dont believe that he is the biggest of the crowd out there! I have a few different videos of the bucks out there and its awesome stuff if you enjoy watchin the deer. There are about 8 or 9 different good size bucks and there is one monster who is a seven plus on both sides. there was two well over 200 but sadly down to one. And I wouldn't be ashamed of gettin a pic behind him hes outstanding. not to often you'll be behind one of those!!!!

To bad a buck of that size was HBC, a hunter should have had the opportunity to take it!

I thought the same thing. I have this pic as my wallpaper and we think it is the same deer. Same area at least.

How do you guy's make your Pic's so big. Every time I try to post pic's I have to make them so small they are hard to see! I have 2 great pic's of this buck last year taken by a freind of my future brother in law. Here is one of them.

lil,
The other big buck out there is actually an 8x8 but most of the extras are small. Although I think he is over 200, he won't score as high as the dead buck did. Plus he is only about 24-25 wide. There is another big typical that is about 30-32 and well over 190. Good to see genetics like that. Heres a pic of the 8x8.

This buck is also dead my wife hunted it for three days and someone else shot it. She passed up the typical it had no browtines but was a good buck probably 28-30"

No, that buck is not dead I just saw him yesterday. Nobody is/was able to hunt any of these deer, they are on private property that is strictly controlled. You are confusing this deer with another one.

Well his twin brother is dead then I saw him in the back of a truck on October 24th and yes these deer have been hunted they do not stay or have always lived on private property. In fact I have hunted the buck that was hit by the car. I missed him with my bow in 2004 and I've watched him since 2002. The 8x8 was shot near barney canyon and actually had a few more small points. It may be another deer but the main frame was 8x8 and 24" spread with the same inline extras.

That Photo is out by Magna. If you look at the background, and are at all famalier with downtown, you can see it is super high focus looking due North-East from out by Magna. For example, notice where the LDS temple is, and behind it you can see LDS hospital. Also, it is recent, as the old Key Bank Tower on second and main has the new US Bank logo on it.

Not Fake, very real. Not above the state capital.

well i was lookin at my camera and came across the pictures of some of the other monsters off backus in magna. there not the closest cause they liked to stay under the one tree but you can definetly tell, so as soon as i get my computer back i will try and post them for you all to enjoy!!
