OK ? WAS PLANNING ON HUNTING ELK SEPT 8-18, BUT FULL MOON IS SEPT 12TH, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THESE DATES W/THE MOON, OR SHOULD I HUNT SEPT 16-25?

ANT SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE HELPFUL

THANKS

I like the full moon. In my experience the bulls might not bugle as long into the morning because they have been screaming all night long. But they can be more active during the day during this time and start bugling earlier in the afternoon making the evening hunts better. That is what I have seen...Good luck on your hunt.

If it's dry and warm at the same time there is a full moon you're dead to rights before you step out of the truck. Unless you know how to sneak through dry crunchy potato chips at mid day into their bedding area you won't see an elk up and at it during daylight hours.

I prefer the later dates anyway :)

Cheers,
Pete

+1 there C3. On my Dutton muzzle hunt last year it was hotter than a popcorn fart in July WITH a full moon to boot. It wasn't untill day 6 when some cloud cover and a front moved in that they started waking up.
