One Heck Of A Year..........

I use to post on here alot, but the last 18 months have been a little rough. however i think I'm slowing starting to see light again.

My wife left me 18 months ago (for good reasons) then a week later my mom got cancer (thank God she beat it) then 4 months later I lost my job, then my dad had open Heart Surgery. I'm not looking for sympathy AT ALL!!!!!!

Now the GOOD NEWS, my dad who is in his 70's and my oldest son who just turned 12 and myself drew a Oregon Elk tag (Bull Tag) for Murderous Creek. My dad and I had 12 points for Elk but with time running out we wanted to go on a hunt of a life time in our opinion, three generations hunting together. None of us have ever killed an Elk so hopefuly I can get my dad and son a Elk.

Well anyway I'm slowly getting back on my feet and wanted to get back to chatting here, so hello everyone an I hope you all got the tag you were looking for. I'm heading up to Murderous Creek at the end of the month to scout. I have never been there but they say it should take me about 8hrs. I'm going to try and make at least 2 trips, hopefuly 3 before season. Well I have to go since I'm at work.

Thank you,

Slide, welcome back dude! And a BIG congrats on those tags too!! Really sounds like you deserve it. You sound like a stand up guy and im sorry to hear about your misfortunes but it sounds as though you have pulled through it with a great positive outlook. You should be congratulated just for that. Takes lots of pictures of your scouting and your hunt with your son and dad. You and your boy will always have that to look back on. Good luck to you guy?s, getting your son and dad a bull would be great but Id really like to see you kill a good one too.

Sounds good. Go have a fun hunt with your family and good luck. Post up some pics if you guys lay any down.

Best of luck to you Slide and good to have you back on the site. An elk hunt with your father and son will be an awesome experience no matter what. Murderers Creek has a lot of animals in it, and a lot of hunters. It's not a trophy unit by any stretch but there are some nice bulls in there and it's great country to hunt. Where are you driving 8 hours from to get there? Wish you success on your hunt(s) and better luck in the 18 months ahead.

+1 on lots of pictures of all 3 of you together on this hunt.
Good Luck

Thank you all very much, I really appreciate it. I tell you after what i HAVE BEEN THROUGH YOU GET A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE. I'm driving from 45 min. South of Medford, I was told that it would take that long I don't know but I'm about to find out.

I was a lil disapointed at first drawing putting in for that unit with 12 points, but then I realized that hunting with dad and my son is more important then a huge bull.

Thank you all again.

Hey Slide..

Good luck to you and your family. You should have a real good time! I live about 1hr 30 minutes south of medford. When I hunt the Slives unit I plan for about a 5-6 hour drive. I'm pretty sure that to get to our hunting area in the silves I drive by a portion of the Murders Cr. unit.

We go up 97 through X-mas valley to Burns. Can haul some butt if you want out in the desert country

Anyhow please post the results.. at least some good pics of the trip!

Thank you for the info. I was going to go up to White City then take 140 to Chiliquin (sp?) then 97 to Redmond and then 26 to John Day. But if A-12 to 97 is faster or you know a faster way please let me know, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,
