My science teacher last year went on a horseback 3 day trip up in the high country and shot the first bull he saw which was a 6x6 just under 300in for the rifle hunt. I would say not to hunt the low country. The higher elevations is where most the elk are at. BUT that higher country is no walk in the park. Post your success.
