Book Cliffs (roadless) any weapon

Hey, if anyone gets a call from the DWR offering them an any weapon elk tag on the Book Cliffs (roadless) unit you can thank my Dad. He recently turned his tag back in for health reasons. Good luck to whoever gets it...that is if the DWR offers it to someone other than those that can only afford the minimal elk tag fee.

Was it a resident tag? My brother drew out with 14 pts and I have 13 (no luck this year). C'mon lady luck! Although, I'm kinda looking forward to going this year and also going next year.

Yup...resident tag. Good luck...although my brother didn't draw that same tag and has 16 points.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-15-11 AT 04:03PM (MST)[p]16 points and didn't draw, that seems a little high for the roadless. Not calling out your brother too much, but he may want to check to make sure he did not screw up the application or something like that...

Last year, only two people put in for the roadless any weapon resident with 15 points and 13 put in with 14 points using up all the max points tags (15). I did not look at the total tags for 2011, but if they were 31 again, that means more than 15 hunters with 16-17 points put in for that unit in 2011 to not have your brother draw. That would be a huge swing in applicants with close to max points and unlikely.

I had one cousing draw it with 15 and two others that did not with 13 points.

If I had that many points and did not draw in the bonus point pool, I would be speaking directly with the guys in charge to get to the bottom of the issue

All I know is that my cousin drew his bonus point tag as he/we thought. My other two cousins we estimated had a 50-75% chance of drawing and neither did. Possibly more people with higher point amounts threw their name in the unit this year. However, it is hard to believe 16-18 bonus point holders did not draw the roadless based on past year results.

I've had several people tell me that same thing in years past and when we actually go and look at the points they DO HAVE it is significantly different than they thought Yes if they have that many points there must have been an error on the app. Good on the guy willing to give another a shot at going hunting this fall.

Turns out my brother only has 14 points...my dad drew with 13 points.
