congrats to you on a nice velvet buck. Hoping for one of those someday. Seen five or six velvet bucks open day but couldn't close the distance. Sweet buck for sure.

Nice buck ,I heard you took a couple other critters this year two. Darin said it was a birthday buck. Congrats

Yes I did. I shot a decent 5X5 bull with my front loader and a decent 5X5 mulie out of state. I will post them later.

Nice buck. Was that a guided hunt or did you find it on your own? To shoot a buck like that early on opening morning you must have spent a lot of time scouting him - good job. BUT, now you're going to miss the late hunt you've grown so fond of and that has been so good to you. Again, good job and let's see the pics of your other animals.

I did have a great guide, it was doveman ( Oh I mean you). You scouted for this buck for me for a week and after looking over 14 bucks you thought this would be the one. We'll the rest of the story goes like this. It started at 5:00 am opening morning we went to the local deli got some jojo's and chicken then drove to the hot spot. When we arrived there, there were 12 other rigs waiting for the sun to come up and the fun begin. I walked 200 yards off of the asphalt road stood in the sage and 1 hour later here came 2 nice bucks, when they were about 50 yards out I drew my bow and when they stopped at 20 yards I released on the biggest one. This may have been one of the saddest moments I have ever had hunting, just knowing my deer season in Washington was past and I would have to wait a hole year to do it again.

Geezzz....if you were so sad you shouldn't have shot it....I would've shot it for you instead. :) Just kidding of course. That's a fuggin' nice buck, opening morning or not that's one for the wall. Congrats on a good year for ya.....oh, and hey, where's those other pics? :)

Awesome speciman. What area did you take him out of? No specifics wanted, just general terms is all. I can tell from the pic that it is probably the southern half of the eastern part of the state. Congrats.

That is an awesome deer. It looks just as good with the velvet off. Are you going to mount it with the velvet on or off, I thought I heard that you were getting it mounted? Also did you go hunt Idaho this year or not? As soon as I get my buck I will take it over to the house and show you. Still holder out for a monster, haven't seen anything to great yet. Michael J I sent you a pm.

PM returned Crabcreek.

Hey crabcreekhunter hope things have been going good for you up on the ridge, I have seen a few post from you. You should have a bunch of snow by now and the big bucks should be coming down. we did go to Idaho and had a fun trip. I seen close to fifty deer a day. I passed on a 170 class buck the first day and it turned out to be the largest buck I got to see. I saw four mature bucks and ended up shooting a decent 5X5. I have not put the tape to him but think he is about 26" wide. As far as my washington buck, I did take the cape in to have it tanned, but not sure if I will have it mounted (no more wall space). Plus I need to save room for the cougar I will be shooting next month. As soon as you wack that big buck, bring him over and good luck. I shot this buck in the columbia basin.

Hey crabcreekhunter how is it going. I have been wondering how things are going for you. With all this snow it should be heating up for you guys. Hold out for the one you want. If I do have this buck mounted it will be with the velvet on. I did take the cape in to have it tanned but don't know if I will have it mounted. On my Idaho trip I saw four mature bucks and ended up shooting one that is about 26" wide and a 5X5. My son seen the grand daddy and could not get a shot at it. He figured it a 30" to 35" wide but just to far to close the gap. When you shoot your buck bring him over and good luck. As far as my Washington buck goes I shot it in the Columbia basin.
