My mind couldn't quite believe what I saw cross the road initially, but after the fog of increduality lifted I simultaneously tried to anchor the brakes, grab the camera out of the back seat, and exit the vehicle with my seat belt still clipped. ;) I finally was able to get the rig parked and free myself from the vehicular trappings and take off after him with camera in hand. He was in a such a rutting frenzy that if I stood still for longer than 10-15 seconds, he'd completely forget I was on his heels. Just had to be careful to not alert/disturb the does he was chasing. I'm not sure how long my understanding fiance waited for me, but was able to get some pretty decent photos of a good sized Washington muley buck.

Funny how the really big fellows come out of the woodwork after my tag deer is no longer good for the area!

Holy crap that is a great buck. Looks like he has been hanging out with barry Bonds and doing Roids. He has a huge body.

What a hog...
body size is huge, double eyeguard and a real cool drivers side.

are you sure he's from washington

HOLY COW BATMAN! That thing is a PIG. Not the biggest buck in the state but with the downturned main beam, double eyeguards, he gets an A for character. Man I wish I could have him in my sites one day.

At one point one of the does circled back around with the buck trailing her with amorous intentions. They were five yards away in these pics. Interesting to observe how I've must have looked and behaved many times throughout my adolescent years and into my twenties...er, thirties. :)

Just a three point on the one side, maybe next year he'll be a shooter. Who am I kidding? That is one beautiful buck, great pics too.

Think he's a "shooter" Very nice pictures!I was driving home from Entiat Sunday night after helping a friend that has "the tag" and about 1/2 mile from the top of Blewett pass there was this real nice 30" 5x6 just standing about 10 yards off the side of the road. I am sure he would go 180"+. So I pull over across from him and have a nice conversation with him until he decides to go back up the hill. About 2 miles down the road 2 guys with a "Mission" tag were loading there quad and heading home.....The rut is in full swing for sure. Over in Entiat the bucks looked more like bird dogs than deer!
