Opening day deer, Sowat's point road. Parked and glassed the ridges. Spotted two seperate groups, bucks and does. We walked the half mile to the nearest group. We were busted by the first group but managed to sneak up the the second group, My daughter took the shot but missed low. She set up on the the same doe and was ready for the next shot and after some coaching and explaning the effects of bullet drop she managed to connect on the second shot. .308 WIN with 130 XLC. My nephew was with us to help with with glassing and packing out. We were joined by the rest of the family and enjoy the weekend. I'm very proud of my Daughter and hope u enjoy the pictures. Thanks for looking.

Good for her! There's nothing like spending time with the family in the outdoors. That part of the Kaibab probably produces more venison than the rest of the unit combined!

It's good to see her proudly displaying her hunter ed patch too!

Thanks to all for the comments. Rem 700, VariXII, Harris BiPod, stock had to be cut to fit her. I forgot to mention, We would also like to thank the crew that was working the Jr's Base Camp. They did and excellent Job. The hot chocolate, coffee, drinks, hamburger, hot dogs, chili were good.

OUTSTANDING!!!!! I love it!

My son got his first deer during last year's Kiabab doe hunt. Truly one of the most memorable moments of my life! Not to high-jack this thread, but I couldn't resist posting another pic of my son from last year.

I'm also glad you enjoyed the ADA Junior Hunters Camp. The Fredonia/Page contingent of the ADA handles that camp every year, and they always do a great job!

Erik and I will be hunting the 36A junior hunt this weekend (and helping-out with the ADA Junior camp), and he's hoping to get his first buck. ;-)

BIG kudos to you & your daughter. Memories for a lifetime for sure!

Looks like you had another successful hunt! Congrats to your daughter on a nice deer. Nice to see a young lady in the field on a successful note! She sure looks like she's having a good time.

Yeah we had a great time. My two son's and My Oldest Daughter also started with the Kaibab Jr's hunt. Me and my Nephew got tags for the spring turkey hunt on the Kaibab this spring, and are looking forward to it.

Congratulations to you and especially your daughter. That is great you took the time to take her out, coach her along and had a great time............ Thanks, Allen Taylor......
