Spotter or Video?

I have my once in a lifetime archery elk hunt on the Valle Vidal in New Mexico coming up in September. Should I buy a spotting scope to look for my trophy or a video camera to film my OIL hunt? I have good HD glass already (10X42) so I am leaning towards the camera. What do you all think?

I hardly take my spotting scope out anymore. The video cameras now days can video crap a half mile away or more and they are lighter to pack and best of all you get the video bonus.

The only down side is you might need a new computer to process anything $$.

I picked up a little Panasonic SDR-S26 a couple years ago to film my son's OIL desert sheep hunt. It was under $300, but it has a 60X zoom and took some killer video of sheep his hunt. It is small and fits in a cargo pant pocket so it is real easy to pack around. The only disadvantage is that it is hard to hold steady because it is so light and small, but out at longer ranges all cameras need a tripod. Anyway, at that price maybe you can do both!
