So...last weekend the family made the trip to Yellowstone. My 12 year old had his little camera and asked if he could take a picture of the nice bull up in the trees. Of course I said sure, while trying to corral my other three kids from running into the road. Long story short I hear some gasps, and I look up and he is 200 yards up the mountain standing in front of the bull snapping pictures. My wife freaks! I give out my dad whistle and he comes back and said, "you said I could take a picture!" All turned out ok and his pictures are sweet... Thought you might like to see a few. Last time i'll be asked to watch the kids!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-31-11 AT 00:28AM (MST)[p]Thats a cool bull and awesome pics! Weird how his g2s are kind of where g3s should be? Never seen a bull like that.

"You skin grizz?"

His G2s are missing but he is quite huge for a Park bull. I've shot a couple like that assuming from a distance they were six points.

He's still gorgeous!

He got some great shots,Good looking bull,Now where is that bear. LOL

LAST EDITED ON Jul-31-11 AT 08:40AM (MST)[p]Looks like that boy of yours might be the next Leonard Lee Rue III with those great photos, LOL! Lucky that bull was in the velvet and not in the rut! I guess I don't quite understand the comment on his brows. They appear about where they should be, but with that big 4th near his short 3rd on the right side, it does make him look a little weird.

Awesome story, your kids came through for old dad. Great pics, check out the belly on that old bull, wow.JB

Funny stuff. Got some good pics of a nice bull though. Just thank god it wasn't a buffalo up there on the hillside that he wanted to get the pictures of.

Impressive pictures to say the least. Glad to see there's one the wolves haven't taken down yet. Herds sure have been suffering. Yellowstone is still one of the greatest places in the world in my book.

Awesome pics, and an even better story. I remember taking my young wife to Yellowstone for her first time... Our family was eatin ice cream at Tower Falls. Someone yelled "Bear!", and coming down off the mountain across the street were a sow and boar black bear couple. Before I knew it, my wife, and about 15 other people were runnin UP the road towards them. She was so excited and got caught up in the moment. I hurried after her. The bear couple crossed the road below everyone. Luckily, the boar was engrossed in the sow as they passed within 20 yards of us...

Nature does a funny thing to us humans... We can't contain our amazement and awe...

Too funnny!

I was there when this bull was very close to the road. Let's just say there was quite the traffic jam!

I also got some very nice pics of him but I can't say I was as close as your youngster (or would I dare get that close).

Thank goodness I have a good zoom lense :)

Anyway, here are some more pics for comparison.

I was going to post these pics on a separate thread but you beat me to it.

Great story and awesome pics
