When we found out that I drew a limited entry archery deer tag this year we debated weather or not to get my wife an archery elk tag or a rifle elk tag knowing that time would be limited to archery hunt elk. After a whole summer of scouting deer we figured I would be done pretty quick on my LE tag and have pleanty of time to chase elk, and she really wanted to get one with her bow so we got her an archery tag.

Well as luck would have it I am still chasing deer and my wife was looking at spending the last weekend of the archery hunt helping me instead of hunting elk. She never complained though and was happy to do it. Well last night with a free evening we decided to try a stand realizing it may be her only night to hunt. We left work and we were in the stand at 5:30, at about 7:30 I heard a stick crack up the draw and realized immediatly that we had elk comming in. I couldnt believe it we hunted hard last year for an elk for her without much luck, and now on the first night out we had elk comming in. They came in and this cow turned broadside for her at 27 yds, she made a great shot and it only went 50 yds.

I am a proud husband today not only did my wife get her first elk with a bow but she helped me bone it out and all 100 pounds of her packed two front shoulders and backstraps to the truck. I have killed a lot of animails in my life but there is nothing better then seeing the excitment on the face of my wife when she realized she had killed an elk with her bow.

Too cool congrats! I bought my fiance a rifle this year to try and get her into the sport, I cant imagine her ever drawing back a bow. Youre one lucky guy!

Hunt Hard. Shoot Straight. Kill Clean. Apologize to No One.

Lucky Guy. A wife that hunts. That is awesome! Will you tell your wife to hang out with mine, please.

Good for her! Congrats!

?The bugle of the bull elk echo?s through the pines, the north wind moans her lonesome lullaby, he hungers for the freedom of an eagle as she flies?somewhere beyond the great divide?

Thanks for the comments guys, she is pretty excited to get an elk with her bow she has been after it for a long time.

The great thing about her is she was already an avid hunter and bowhunter when I met her. I know some guys like hunting with the guys and leaving the wifes at home but for me hunting has always been a family thing and there is nobody I would rather be on the mtn hunting with.

For you guys trying to get your wives into hunting good luck to you I hope you succeed and they enjoy it as much as you do, because there is no better time spent then enjoying the outdoors and hunting with your spouse.

She shoots a 52 lb Bowtech destroyer 350 @ 24". Its not really typically a womans bow but it works great for her.

Congrats to your wife. That is an awesome accomplishment that many archers will never achieve.

ARROWHNTR, congrats to your wife and to you too. You sound proud and you should be. Awesome job!! What bow is she shooting and how many pounds? Looks like a Bowtech.

Cool good luck to u maybe we might see u guys again. Did u ever get a chance at that four that we seen u going after?

Fantastic job. I'm chasing LE Bulls right now and still couldn't have killed a cow if I had a tag to do so. Thats pretty cool. Kudos to the both of you.

I know exactly what you mean, my wife killed her first big game animal last year, muzzy cow elk, it was super cool. Now she understands my hunting addiction. She's got a good rifle mule deer tag this year, should be fun!
Congrats to your wife, with a bow is really cool!

I'm convinced that a couple that spends time in the outdoors together stay together. There is something to be said about a woman that loves the outdoors like that. And a looker to boot! Congrats to the young lady and also to you my friend for landing such a fine catch.

It's always an adventure!!!

Congratulations! I also think its great to hear of a wife who likes to go hunting with her husband.
