LAST EDITED ON Dec-04-06 AT 01:22PM (MST)[p]my buddy and i were in the swakane yesterday and he opted to harvest a big fat healthy doe after spending about 5 days up there. had to be home today and no more opportunity to hunt before it closed so let one fly on a doe... his first archery kill and he made a great stalk and i had a front row seat to the whole thing from about 225 yds away. my first time in that country and it is beautiful. i'd love to hear if any big boys were seen or taken up there.
great looking buck and mount...congrats
I was up there, Swakane Rd., Friday and Saturday. Ended up seeing 10 legal bucks, mostly 4x's. I would say mostly in the 20" range, but did see a coupla' dandies! One definately pushing 30"....from what I could tell from a coupla' ridges over. He was chasin' another decent 4x4 around. Unbelievable how many deer are up there right now!
Just couldn't make anything happen up there, for the guys that were up there you know why. Can be tough! Absolutely ideal weather and conditions up there right now though. Wish I could've stayed longer.
I did meet and talk to a few guys in there, don't know if any of them were MM members or not but, if any were I was in a 02' Black Dodge P/U.
BTW.....saw about a dozen Big Horns on Fri. Three absolute hawgs! Would be cool to draw that ONE tag.
slider.....sweet buck man! Gotta love that dagger!
That is a very unique buck, nicely done. Ive got a couple buddies coming home now from the second season entiat tag, they took one doe and one 4x3, they said the seen a lot of deer and one huge 2 point pushing 30inches. I seen some bighorns on the way home from there along the river on the highway.
did any of you guys see the bucks still running the does this weekend??? we were hoping to find a buck with the couple groups of does we saw, but that was not to be.
MULESLYR, Sorry you didn't connect, your sure put your time in this year. That was some conversation with the warden huh....pretty interesting. I would like to talk to you more about the late archery gig up there......
Nice buck, How did you get it back so fast? It takes six months for a Euro and over a year for a hide mount. It would be worth the shipping for that kind of turn around.
