Hello all. It's my second year trying out archery , and I finally got my first buck! I couldn't be happier- he was rutting hard, and the dominant buck in the bunch. I got a great 55 yard shot on him, and he took me on a 1/2 mile trail. The blood tapered off to a drop every 50 yards. Without my husband's tracking skills & the snow, he would have been very hard to find: he backtracked about four times in thick aspens. All the hard hunting finally paid off- I am so proud to have harvested this mature buck, and this is my buck of a lifetime. Thanks for looking!

That's a great buck, Late archery tag in the rut it don't get much better then that..

nice buck, was that the area 10 late archery tag? if so where were you at if you dont mind telling?

Packrat, I remember last year when you were chasing those bucks up on Harrison. I'm glad to see that your hard hunting paid off. Congrats. fatrooster.

Fatrooster,
I'm surprised you remembered me! Yeah, I ate tag soup last year, and had all but given up on harvesting this year. What a rush that was! I will relive that arrow flying through the air for the rest of my life. Say- do you happen to know when the big buck contest is this year at the Watering Hole? I'd like to go take a look at the 'monsters' this year.
Bryan21, without giving up too much info, it was in an area near & accessed by Harrison Pass in area 10 (pretty popular pass). You have to get pretty far off the roads, as there are a ton of people road-hunting, even with archery. The animals were extremely spooky at the sound of vehicles (especially 4 wheelers). Hope that helps!

yea i was just wondering because i had 10 early rifle and i missed a big one on top of green mountain on the main harrison access road. to many hunters though the deer get spooked real easily

Congrats on a great buck! I agree a buck of a lifetime , I too would love a buck like that...

NVPackrat, the Big Buck Contest at the Watering Hole will be this Saturday the Dec. 9th. I'll be there admiring all of those Grand Daddy bucks and helping to measure the racks and giving out prizes. Hope to see you there. fatrooster.
