LAST EDITED ON Sep-11-11 AT 08:30PM (MST)[p]My Son got a turn back archery LE tag the week before the hunt. We were pretty much limited to week ends because of other commitments. Until this week end it had been pretty tough. Saturday the Bulls were talking and chasing. Saturday night the boys came close to a nice bull, and this morning everything came together. Two of my sons put together a great hunt plan, and executed it perfectly. I had a ring side seat with the spotting scope. My youngest made a perfect 55 yard shot, and bull down in about a hundred yards. I'm electronically challenged, so no pictures. It's a nice six point, that B Bop would call a piss cutter. I'm a happy Dad. It's great watching you sons use the things you've taught them and be succesful. Did I mention that he broke a bone in his foot last week training for an MMA fight. Congrats on your son's bull. You have every reason to be proud of your 2 boys. I'm sure there equally proud of you for having given them the opportunity to enjoy nature's beauty and bounty.

Boys get all the Credit, I'm just the Wrangler. It was on the Diamond Mountain. I had a tag in 2001. We've found a way to hunt it nearly every year since. It's probably the king of the Piss cutters units. In 11 years I've only seen a hand full of bulls over 340. I don't need a braggin' Bull, I just love to hunt Elk. I'd hate to go back to the Days of killing the first spike you see, but I get tired of everybody hunting inches. Liven' the Dream BacDoc PS Bob, I don't have a clue how to send you a picture, maybe I can get the boys to. It is a piss cutter though.

Good job on "the" mountain!

My 2nd daughter hunted it a few years back and took a nice 325+ pizzcutter (great bull for her and looks perfect on her wall)

Get the boys to post up a few pictures, Glad you guys got into the elk. How far did the broke foot put him back in the fight game.

Thats what its all about......hunting with your boys !!!!! We have been having a great time hunting. Just haven't let one fly yet. Hope to have a story like yours soon. I am actually spotting bulls as I type . :)

I'll talk to them tonight about pictures. He was suppose to fight this week end. Probably take a couple months to heal enough to fight. Some training in a couple of weeks, Gator you know he was a wrestling champ, they're tough. Thanks for all the kind remarks. Now if they'll just help me get my Bull next week. LAST EDITED ON Sep-13-11 AT 05:39AM (MST)[p]Thanks for the offer Gator, more likely to take you up on the pheasant hunt sometime. The hunt this week end was fun. It's totally different once the Bulls start talking. Saturday night they were on a 340 type bull with 8 cows and 3 small bulls, but the wind wasn't right to close the deal. He killed this bull Sunday morning. Basicly on his last chance. He was the herd bull with about 10 cows. They had 3 five points pass within 30 yards pass before he came past trailing the herd. Saturday night we talked about were to hit a bull. I'm a rifle hunter, so my thinking is a little different. We decided right behind the shouder about one third up would be ideal. Right or wrong that's right where he hit at 55 yards. His brother ranged the yardage, cow called to stop him in an opening, and he got it done. the bull went about 100 yards and tipped over dead. Bob, call him what you want, we're glad to get him. Hoping to see one of the bigger bulls this week end, but they'll still be piss cutters to you. I respect your ideas, we just see thing a little differently. Spent last night getting him cut up. Now it's time to get ready for my hunt. BacDoc
