Help Wanted For My Good Buddy!

Hey MM guys. I am in a dilema. My buddy drew a Nebo Elk tag. He has hunted 7 days and has not had a shooting chance at a bull. He is hunting his socks off and I know the unit is not what is used to be. Not asking for an easy hunt.

My wife and I had our son born this last weekend and so I was going to help him with the calling part and try to get him a bull. I am now attending to dad duties and helping take care of my daughter while my wife gets feeling better.

My buddy has been finding some elk, but seems to maybe be scaring them away as he has never called to elk.

I am trying to help him find someone that would be willing to help a friend out, have a good time chasing elk and that knows how to call elk decent.

He is not the richest guy on the block, but he would be willing to make it worth someomes time if you know what I mean.

Check out the waterfall area above the town of Mona. Its just to the south of the big basins.

But the true reason I eat so many tags is because I smoke...a lot! In and out of the woods. And as I understand it, elk hate the smell of me.

If he doesn't care if I smoke, and hike slow, holler, I have the next 4 days available. I'm in the Salt lake area, and really don't know anything about where he's hunting.

Hey Tag, I used to smoke a lot too and I don't think that ever had anything to do with being unsuccessful. I actually think it made me be a better hunter as I would circle hard and fast to keep downwind. I have never worried about sent control as a result and I still don't unless it gets to the point I can't stand myself!

LOL. I think you would be a great asset to this guy and if you have the available time and desire I would go for it if I were you. I'm out helping TopGun and his partner John out on a bull hunt here in AZ and we are all having a blast. Im not guiding, im just helping out and we have been into elk every day. I for one am very glad they have had me along even though I don't have a tag.

By the way, 27 years of heavy smoking, as you know I quit 3 and a half years ago, try Chantix, it works! Just razzin ya Tag! ;-) Smoke-em if you got-em!

Oh and one more bonus I got for helping out, TopGun made me one heck of a White Tail Back strap meal the other day that was to die for! Also got to make 2 new friends with a couple of really great guys and have heard some new stories that had me busting a gut darn near crying.

But since I posted that last night, I've been asked to help an old friend with some chores around his mothers place.

We only had Friday to get it done an at first light we had bulls all around us so I set him up by a pine tree an started to cow call then the next thing u know is I had a hole herd running full blast they came in within 30 of us but on the wrong side of the tree so we never got a shot at that bull. But there was two more bulls screaming on the other hill side so we put a stalk on one bull an we got within 42 yards of the 6 ?6 that was screaming so I told nate there he is get ready then the bull walked out so nate drew back back his bow then he let his arrow fly but. Did not connect on the first shot the bull then took off so I cow called an stopped him again then nate connected with the second shot. So we gave the bull an hr then we followed the blood for awhile then the rain came in an started to poor. So nate is up there looking for his bull I had to leave to help my dad look for his deer in Vernon.
