For you horn Porn Freeks out there, I decided to post up this pic. I was chasing absolute toads most of the hunt and just couldn't connect with them for a variety of reasons. Eventually, I broke down and decided to get'er done on the next 6 point that was within range before the season ended. Enjoy the pic and good luck to those of you that are still hunting.

A special thanks goes out to all those who gave me advise and help on this hunt. I'm not going to name any names, you know who you are. It's nice that there are some great folks on this site who are truly willing to help a fellow hunter out. Good Karma will be coming your way.

He crashed into the thick cover after the shot. I would never take a shot on an animal in cover like that.

The fun part was the fact that it started raining 20 minutes after the shot and I didn't have a blood trail and had to spend over 4 hours climbing through that crap to finally find him. I went through some very low moments in those four hours.

Good job mulieking. Good looking bull. You did good, there are a lot of archers that would give their eye teeth for that bull. It hard when you've been on bigger bulls but that's what make the great memories and this bull will remind you of all those good times everytime you look at him

Congrats & best to you,
DC

that's a lot bigger than the bull i killed on the Wasatch in 08... oh wait I ate tag soup that's right... congrats dude that bull is way big enough!

For the photo critics...the stuff hanging out the left quarter is the exit hole (complete pass through). The bull was quartering towards me, walking up hill. The shot took out his lungs, liver, and a little gut going out the back end. A perfectly ethical, lethal shot.

Sweet bull mulieking12 !!!

Nothing like a little blade to wreck havoc in that boiler room :)

Congrats,
Pete

Congratulations, that's a really nice bull. Isn't Monroe a wonderful place to hunt?

Not to highjack the thread, but I got a call last night from one of the 2 non-residents who drew Monroe. I'd helped them with information and they were just calling me on their drive back to Washington to tell me that the tagholder had scored on a fantastic bull, much bigger than they were expecting. He shot it a mile or so south of Manning Meadows Reservoir. They told me there were many bulls bugling and it was a very high quality hunt.

Nice bull. It would be nice to hear the story of your scouting trips, hunt, your evenings at the bar, etc. Are you having it mounted?

Nice Bull. Congrats on getting it done.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

Glad it worked out for you...I know your frustration for sure but it sounds like you had the hunt you won't soon forget!

?The bugle of the bull elk echo?s through the pines, the north wind moans her lonesome lullaby, he hungers for the freedom of an eagle as she flies?somewhere beyond the great divide?
