Here's another BC Monster taken this year.

Boy, you sure can get the true size of that monster next to that smaller buck. What a pig! WOW!

Great buck! Please explain the cape. It makes it look like the person that killed it didn't really know what they were doing and just got lucky. Ruined capes on big animals turns my stomach.

Just another BC monster stud. No need to worry about the cape. The hunter will likely get a bigger buck next year :)

Thanks again for sharing the pic, Steve. This is getting to be a daily routine, but keep them coming.

WOW! What a brute!!!
And I absolutely LOVE the back of the pickup pose with the cape slit all the way up. :)
I hope he got some feild pics.

No doubt....what does it take for you BC boys to keep a cape and actually get one of them big bucks mounted? You guys would probably laugh if you saw the deer on my wall. :)

That buck is huge! Where abouts in BC? The province is also huge, just wondering where in BC. I knew some canadians that used to kill some real nice bucks in the "east kootenays", some years ago.

Incredible buck. I just wish we could get some good pictures of Canadian bucks, instead of these bloody back of pickup photos. How about some nice field photos?

Thats a huge buck for sure! Thanks for the pic.

Looks to me like the average hunter in BC doesn't care about the "trophy". Thats not all bad, is it?

IF YOUR GOING TO BE A BEAR BE A GRIZZLY BEAR!Shows lack of respect for a great buck!

Blood doesn't bother me. I'm just glad to see the photo. Incredible buck. It would be curious to know what potion of BC it came from. I saw some incredible country up there as I drove through it on the Cassiar and the Al-Can. Those Norhtern Rockies are unbelievable, and its just one after the other.

Wow!!!!! Just think what that buck could have been if it didnt have that conjoined twin attatched to it. Just a question, why is it a lack of respect for the buck if you ruin the cape? Even though it is a great buck to us, it might be just another meat buck to him. No disrespect, just no need or desire to have it mounted. Hell, he might have enough of those monsters that all he does is saw off the antlers and pitch them onto the roof of his wood shed. Still, no disrespect.

Rumor is that it came from the Shuswap country, just east of Kamloops. Wouldnt surprise me either, some monster bucks have come out of there over the years including one over 300"!

30 incher,
How do you come up with that conclusion???? Because the guy split open the brisket and in the process ruined the cape, he is somehow showing disrespect??? Am I missing something there???? Here in BC, trophy hunting is at the bottom of the list as the reasons why people hunt. The fact is numerous big bucks like this one are killed every year here and the majority of the world never hears a thing about them. People here are not 'Score Driven'. Alot of these racks end up hanging in the wood shed. You see, you can't eat the horns. I have it on good info where this buck was killed. I believe the pic was actually snapped by a guy who works in the bush and not by the hunter. I actually am pretty certain I know the exact location of the picture due to the lake in the background. It is an area I have hunted a lot over the years. It has very little for hunting pressure and big bucks like this are more likely to be killed by wolves than by humans.

No, you cant eat the horns but I would venture to conclude that thisbuck tastes like tough gamey shoe leather. Must have been the first meat that walked by. Guy could have bought some good beef or gas by selling the green cape for $200.00 +. He can still buy some good meat, (or gas, or Christmas presents for the kids) by selling the antlers. I dont have a problem with a guy slitting the throat, nor the pictures taken, but when people hunt just for the meat they normally take the first meat avaliable, which is hopefully a young deer, maybe even a doe where its legal.
Sounds like BC is packed full of these big guys. Guess I will book that BC muley hunt after all. Maybe Ill find a nice "meat buck" to shoot!

Before you book I would look into how many outfitter's have actually got a client a 200+ Muley for the freezer up here LOL. Not just stories of ones that got away. Stories make for thin soup.

My guess it only happens about once every five years... Yet they do die of old age all the time up here or end up as cat scat. :)

To give ya an idea of how tough finding a 200"+ muley in BC really is just look at the time between BCBoys 2 200"+ muleys. I think he shot his first in 1992 and his second in 2006. I know there were missed opportunities inbetween but it isnt like finding these big guys is easy!

I was being sarcastic about how common they are, its just BCBOY said many were taken every year that we never here about, so I multiplied the ones I KNOW ABOUT (200" taken in BC this year) by 5. Heck, who knows Im sure there is 10 to one I dont know about, or more. (out of BC) So then I compared that to the last 10 years (good round figure) of hunting (and knowing about 200" deer taken) in MT open (unlimited) areas, and there MUST be some genetics left in BC (which isnt the case in most of MT) so why not hunt there. Actually I have known a good muley outfitter up there for years. The proofs in the puddin! (not just that I know of, I know as a freind, very well) Im sure you all know him too, so Ill just leave it at that. Just what I need, him gettin swamped with a bunch of other dorks like me hoping there is a 200" buck behind every tree. In all reality, take 1000 deer, maybe 300 bucks, maybe 50 mature bucks (over 5 1/2) maybe 10 with the feed and only 1 or 2 with the genetics to go along. Those figures are nothing more than a figment of my imagination, (an imaginary sample if you will)but I would venture to say, the #s arent very far from the truth.

Now take 10,000 MT muleys, 250 bucks, 25 mature bucks, a few with the feed and maybe, maybe, just maybe ONE with the genetics left? Oh heck, I guess they killed him on the mine near Coalstrip this year. Look out BC, here I come.

Nice post. Where does your friend have his outfit and what is the name of it? Im just curious to see where in BC he guides for muleys. Im sure like most areas, there are areas that produce bigger bucks and BC is the same so you have to be fairly selective where you hunt.

you must be a whorshiper 'eh?

Ill tell ya after the trip (08), I have something else planned for this fall. No offense, but I screwed up a great elk spot by "the power of the internet" a little over a year ago. Hope this dosent make me sound like a jerk. Registered, public info, very limited advertising, quite a bit of new ground aquired over the last couple years. I bet there will be a few more people wanting to hunt the mine land near Coalstrip Mt this year, quite a few actually!

If antler size does not matter then why do people shoot the big bucks even this guy. Please stop with antlers don't matter or they would not be posted here. Antler size does matter, and that is why they shoot them. Now what they do with the antlers may weird out some people (me included), but I have seen numerous big deer shot over little deer then the horns dumped out back. So for these "horns don't matter, can't eat horns, blah blah blah" people when you pass up the larger buck for the smaller one or even a doe then people will start listening.

As far as ruining the cape who knows why. I held a 180 standard 4 point just this year where the guy cut the head off right behind the ears. This was the first deer he ever killed. Literally had no idea what he had shot, so there are a myriad of reasons people ruin a great cape.
