Pretty Boy

I was fortunate enough to experience a hunt of a lifetime with my dad this season in the Book Cliffs Roadless area. My dad is 62 yrs old and he hiked and hunted like a 20 year old. I have been on some neat hunts over the years since I have been hunting on my own but still my best hunt memories are following behind my dad before I was old enough to hunt. I was living through him. I experienced that again this year and it was my honor to get to do it. We found this bull the day before the opener and named him "Pretty Boy" One, because he just had such a perfect set of antlers and two because he had such control of his herd of 15 cows and was staying clear of all the other bulls wanting to "pick a fight." We found him again opening day in the afternoon across the canyon and had tons of time to set up and my dad made a perfect 660 yard high shoulder shot with his 300RUM Sendero set up for long range. (Thanks HunterTurbo!!)We shot from the top of the ridge you see in the background.
We were outfitted by Double C Outfitters and I cant say enough about the Crumps and their operation and the top notch quality guys they are. For example, there is something about eating the best ever dutch oven Beef Brisket around the campfire after a long day of hunting while listening to bulls bugle from camp that is awfully tough to beat.
I also have a fall spot and stalk bear tag that I havent filled yet so if any of you have been in the Roadless recently and know where a bear is hanging out, please let me know. I am going to make at least one more trip back in to try to tag out on a bear. Best of luck to each of you this hunting season.

why, I just read your post and I really dont even know what to say to that. I have never met you nor you me but I think if you did know me and my dad you would not have made those comments or those implications. We respect the mountain and everyone else on it. I dont appreciate the picture you are painting. It is not at all accurate. I truly hope your hunt was as fun and rewarding for you guys as it was for us. I love everything about hunting and most all the people I come across out in the field are great people too. Hunters need to stick together and if you feel you were wronged in any way by us, feel free to send me a pm and we can discuss.
I would like to still get a bear and just so you know, I had a trail cam on the carcass for 3 days after the kill and when I pulled it, there were only pics of ravens and no sign of any bear tracks or other bear sign anywhere around the carcass.

Great bull and story. Anybody that knows Bingo knows that him and his father are straight up honest guys. Congrats on a hunt of a lifetime and I know Josh with Deer Creek Wildlife will do the best job of anybody in the taxidermy business.

AWESOME Thread! I've read a TON of threads on this site and this is by far the most impressive! Sure, I enjoy hearing the stories of the pursuit and kill, but It's great to hear a story about the ONE, who is most of our lives, introduce and taught us the respect and love for the outdoors. I'm sure it's because I miss my Dad (Lost him in ?96 to cancer) and can appreciate your story for your love and respect for your Dad.

Great Bull!
