Lost my Elk

After 10 years of applying for Elk hunting in Unit 9 in AZ I shot a 6x6 350-360 class Bull on Tues Sept 20th 6:45AM that I could not find. Shot was rather low behind the Left shoulder. I'm hoping someone found him. We look for days and could not find him, I left the area Thursday with a broken heart. Since then I have been thinking about the Bull day and night. If someone out there that found a Bull I can give you more detail (Arrow size, Color, Fletcher Color, Even the # written on the vane, Broadhead size and brand) info to get my Bull back. I'm even willing to offer a reward to someone to find my Bull. Please help me end the nightmare.

Thank you

LAST EDITED ON Sep-29-11 AT 11:26PM (MST)[p]You stated you shot the bull on tuesday 9/20 at 6:45 am;and that the shot was low and behind the left shoulder.

You also stated Quote:*We look for days and could not find
him*,unquote.

I left the area thursday with a broken heart.(take 2 advil azz lick)
That is less then two days ;more like a day or so.

Your post has charactorized you as a disrespectfull hunter and if you think spending a day trying to find your elk is sufficente you are lost.Arrow size, color and fletch color and #s on the vains so be it. Your bull is in the frezzer at the casa. Dbag

Too funny...

I guess some of us have never made a bad shot, Jeez

I fill your pain man. What kind of sign did you find after the shot? Did you find any of your arrow? If you hit low enough and only cut brisket hell probably survive.

I simply won't go where there are too many "morens".....

Bad deal about your bull, however. Very frustrating.

"If God did not intend for man to hunt animals, he would have made broccoli more fun to shoot"

We found very little blood. Normal foot track. Arrow was in about 12" and never
Found it. it hit the front shoulder. Arrow would still be in him if someone finds him.

i hope someone finds " your ?" bull, cuts the horns off and keeps them for himself and tells you jack sheet. i don't get this" my arrow is sticking out of him he is mine" mentality. if it's dead and has your tag on it, it's yours otherwise it's not.

True. I still feel there are good sportsmen that would understand and if they know what happend they will call. I don't want the bull that I didn't shoot. I respect your thoughts however I'm still going to try to find him. thanks for your feedback.

beav is kind of a turd but he's right on! If you do not "reduce it to bag" then the bull is not "yours".

I hope you find it but it sounds like you are asking others to look for your bull and pass it on to you when they do. It's not a possession like a spotting scope or a knife. An elk is an animal and if you possess it, it's yours. If you don't, it's not.

Sorry one got away from you. Drawing a tag is tough, hunting is tougher, losing an animal is toughest!

Good luck with your pain (and I really mean that), Zeke

Sadly kindness is a hard thing to find these days, as shown by a lot of people here. I wish you the best of luck, and hope that if somebody does come across that bull, they'd help you out.

Hey Mud,
My intent wasn't to be unkind but simply to display MY opinion on what constitutes a possession.

FYI, I would not take a bull which was killed by someone else and would do everything in my power to find the shooter if I found one.

I killed a bull, with my rifle, which was running around with someone elses arrow in it. The arrow doesn't make it THEIR bull, however. One of my daughters shot one like that also.

Best,
Zeke

Hopefully you can be reunited with the bull. There are still some good people out there, just not to many on this site. Best of luck finding him.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I still think true hunters are good people. That's why you can leave your camp everyday and no one mess with your stuff ( for most part) I'm just hoping some one will find him and even if they keep it it will put an end to my pain. A true hunter knows how that pain is. I've seen it happen.

WOW!!!! There are more "morens" on here than I thought there were!

"If God did not intend for man to hunt animals, he would have made broccoli more fun to shoot"

I had one of those "morens" one time but it ran away when I stopped feeding it! LOL

I've been called a lot of things, by a lot of people, but never a "morens"

Zeke

(you make me laugh mr. nickman)

you have a bad attitude and are not a benifit to our great hunting sport and heritage. go away to your bitter little world you sorry little man and never come back. you are a sorry excuse for a sportsman

Boy, tough crowd in here...guy was just asking for a little help. If you find a bull in 9...dead with his arrow, let him know. Not too much to ask I don't think.

Wow. I don't post on this site much but wanted to speak out after reading some of the poster's trash.

You guys that don't offer support to someone such as the original poster, sure as hell didn't get raised right. If I found a dead buck/elk I would damn sure like to get the horns back to the person that shot it. Anybody that thinks otherwise is not a sportsmen.

Hunting sure has changed :(

Thank you arroyobuck for understanding my pain. I still think sportsmen culture is still alive. There are still a lots of good hunters out there. If I didn't care I wouldn't have try.

People try to help others recover lost animals on this site all the time. Whats the big deal helping this guy out?

That's all I need, is to find it. Then I will go through the process with G&F including the auctioning. It's worth the cost. I'm not looking for any wrong way of getting my Bull back. I have hunted for 25 years, I know the value of code of ethic " doing the right thing when no one is watching".

+1 Zeke. If I found a bull DEAD I would do everything in my power to find the shooter. I think only a "Moren" wouldn't do the same lol

AZ. You sound like a good guy, hope you find the bull. That would tear me up! But from what it sounds like it's probably alive and kicking :(

I would give a general area of where you were hunting so people who plan on being out there can keep an eye out. Unit 9 sounds very broad!!!

Again good luck man!

"East of 64"

Care to narrow it down a bit more than that? There is lots of area east of 64 and I doubt yours is the only dead bull laying around out there!

If you are looking for help, You might have to give out more information, Like narrowing it down to a few square miles, If you don't the odds of you finding the bull is huge,But now if the area is only a few miles wide and a few miles long that will help alot. Good Luck in finding your bull.

Not to many I think. Seems a lot like High School to me all over again. If your not with the "in crowd" you ain't in period.

Here is a good description of the bull. 350+, average fronts, 18 inch 3rds, 18-19 inch 4ths, 14 inch fifths. 40" wide, 52" + main beams, strong whale tail. Very symmetrical.
Again, he is hit in the left shoulder mid way up the body. Entire arrow may not still be with the bull but if it was its 27" Carbon Express Blue streak Arrow with 2 Blue and one while Blazer Vanes, #3 is written on the White Vane, it has a 100 Grain Slick Trick Mag broadhead and clear color Knock. If found please send me a private message and I can give you exact location of the shot.
