I didn't draw last year and I had no vacation to go check things out in region G. How was the hunting?

I've hunted there that last 4 years. Seems to have gone down hill a bit. Fewer deer and fewer big bucks last year than 4 years ago. Outfitters can now guide anywhere, so some of the traditional hot spots get hit a little harder.

Weather hammered us last year. Rained or snowed for most of the time I was rifle hunting. I think we logged about 18 days in the unit scouting, bowhunting, and rifle hunting.

This is one of the best 3 bucks I saw. Liked the eyeguards and extra, so I had to shoot. I don't know that I will applying for that area again.

It sounds like Wyoming is down but there are still lots of great bucks that were killed.....it is pretty special mule deer country for sure.

That's really sad. That famous (now infamous?) area was on my "list", but now maybe not. Is SE Idaho any better?

I have read in magazines (eastmans) that the deer numbers are down from a bad winter a few years ago. Is this true and could that be the problem or is it just too popular???

Any way, I hope they get a handle on things. Wyo, IMO, actually is one of the better states for deer management, but maybe they have let the $$ that G/H brings in go to their heads.

The south end of the Wyoming Range got hammered two winters ago, the winter range was in marginal shape to begin with and then it got buried with snow. Winterkill was the worst it has been in a long time.

I just wish that at least a portion of Region G & H would go to a limited draw and just see what would happen in a couple of years. Not too many years ago I archery hunted a basin in Region G that would have a group of 27 bucks in it every morning, a couple were world class deer. Now that was a sight.
