Heres the story.

I got out of work a little early so I went to a certain ridgeline that holds decent amount of bull elk and muleys. Everytime I would try to get onto this ridgeline I would always spook the deer because it is difficult to get to and its pretty noisy to get up to it, so I decided to try and come in a different way. Right off the bat I saw these 2 does and 2 fawns on the ridgeline at 65 yards and then I could see the tines of this buck. I have been practicing at 60 yards with my bow but I set the limit at 50 yards which I am very proficient at. Well I was to far for a shot and I needed to get a little closer. So I waited for about 30 minutes watching these does when finally they started to come off the ridge kinda angling towards me but away. And as the does stepped behind a tree I would take a step forward. Finally I made to a spot where I would have a shot at this buck at 52 yards up slope, if he followed the does. Well after a few mintues he stepped off the ridge and he stopped right in the only opening I had and his head was right behind a tree so drew back figuring he was 50 yards with the slope I had to work with. At first I thought I missed but then a second later I knew I had him. I had missed a shot at 47 yards earlier in the hunt at a larger buck, but the buck fever got the best of me and I shot high. Anyway it is a good buck. Thanks for the ear. NMHS

Caleb, Great buck. How about that back tine on the left?!?! I hunted Unit 21 for 4.5 days and saw a bunch of muley bucks. I was hoping for a Coues. I saw several of them, but no shots. It was good to be back in the area though. Later, Jeff
