Nice buck!!! Like I said in my previous post I am just learning the fine points of taxidermy, but looks pretty good. I think it would be a good experience to do some of my one for practice. Where are you located? Thanks for sharing!!

Seems to be the norm anymore where hunters are taking up mounting there own deer. Alot of it is cost of mounting it. Materials really are not that much around a $120 once you get the initial products. Paste bondo and sculpting clay and paints etc.
Your mount looks great by the way.
I started taking pics of eyes ears and all angles once animal is down so that I could have them for reference. Plan on mounting several of my own in the future.
Another question is what product did you use to tan your hides?

hey thanx for the reply supersider34 i used lutan-f for the tanning it work well no shrinkage or slippage.

hey sagehntr i used rinehart mannikins, with the pre set eyes. they are the only way to go. i spent about 5 mins on each eye during the mounting process. saves time and money

Shot my turkey up in northern Idaho last spring. Plan on coming back up that way this year for other animals.
I have to tan up 4 capes and 2 bears.son buck my buck friends elk cape and my antelope cape. Going to mount my sons buck up for him. His first 4x4 at 14 yrs old.
Have to check on that tanning solution then.
