I have 1pp for mule deer and 2pp for elk going into this years draw. Do you all think I'd be better off savings up more points or utilizing these points and putting in somewhere with a decent chance of getting drawn? If so, which one, mule deer or elk? - not asking for specifit units here. I'm really wanting a great experience and hope to tag something presentable. I'm from TX and looking for my first out of state hunt and can't wait much longer!!! - I'm too anxious.

If you go to the Colorado website they have the amount of points it took last year to get each unit. You should see what you can get and then see if that quaility is what you are looking for. There is a lot of information on their website to get you started.

There are some units that are pretty good that take one or less points to draw. the units can be great on private land. Just some research and phone calls.

If I only knew if I'd draw New Mexico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't that be awesome; to know your other draw results. This is what makes it all fun --- well at least helps pass the time by until next season.

If you are just looking for something presentable you might try to look for a unit that you can draw 2nd season as a 2nd choice so you can get up there and get to know the area a couple of years and then try to draw a later season with your points. There are several units like that, that you can draw as a second choice for now, and then try to draw the 3rd, or 4th season with 3-5 points. Look at some units on huntodds.com to get an idea.

That's a great idea - I had thought of that last year but completely forgot about doing that this year. I like the thought of getting to hunt the unit in an early season, saving the points, then going back to the same unit in the late season when I have the points.
