I prefer to backpack and cooler weather is a big plus. I also love rough steep high treeline type elk hunting. Lets here your thoughts on these two units.

Thanks

So how many of your normal/typical I have NO Clue threads are you going to start?

For sure after you have bad mouthed Huntin' Fool-Draw Odd's, Eastman's-Draw Odd's and M&M Draw Odd's--you still start these Help Me I have No Clue threads....

Do you Even Know how many Az. Elk points you have?--9/10...flip a coin?

Plus there are ton's of us M&M guys that realize how jealous and disrespectful you screwed your dad on his Utah LE Bow Bull tag he drew this fall....

You really expect us to babysit you for 2012 Az. draw???

Hopefully you will get a Rifle harvest Mule Deer Buck on your Wyo LQ Rifle Buck 105, 106, 109 LQ tag in mid-November.

Robb

PS. I am up in Wyo buck deer on a leftover cheapie fee--no points used--Region F tag thru Nov. 5th in your max points/Pricey Fee LQ hunt area....but I will be using my Bow....You?

Just pick a unit and hunt already. AZ is hot in september. Wherever you go. Every unit has big bulls. Every unit has people and roads. Every unit has places to hike to.....thats everything you need to know.

+1 pleasedear!!

get a state map- find the highest peak in elk country - look up the unit - there ya go - make it as high and steep as you want - really -

Thanks guys. I am researching the fire in 27 now.

Robb slow down and pace yourself you do not have to be a jerk all the time! I flew out to help my dad the whole last week of the hunt sorry if that is not good enough for you. You have to much time on your hands and you keep such careful tabs on me I am starting to think you have a crush on me!

Florida is much steeper any part of unit 27. Don't worry about any Rattlers in the Blue, they all died in the fire. Water is also abundant everywhere, so you won't even need a canteen.

+ 2 Robb

I think the wallow fire burned up all the elk in units 1 and 27.
Really!

"Sorry I missed this"

Kinda true but you left a freaking almost 70 year old dad to hunt solo---for the first 2 1/2--3 weeks of his hunt.

Show me one other Son that would dump his almost 70 year old Dad 1500 miles from home to chase LE elk in Utah???? Then try and cover it with I flew out for the last week....blah--blah--blah....

You yourself have NEVER-EVER been on a solo bow hunt for 2 1/2--3 weeks..but you dump your ole man to do it....all the time hoping he bails out so you can 'chit' on him like you have done on every thread you bring him up in.....

'I am starting to think you have a crush on me!"

Only your lil short man ego would say something like that Donnette...

'Rebutal'...?

Robb

I like your chances with 27 bow. Less hunters, plenty of country to look over including the "get away from it all" type. Unit 8 has a little of that, but not much with the increase of so many guide services. Just got out of 8 and it was tought to say the least.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-03-11 AT 11:43AM (MST)[p]Robb if you must know my wife had a hysterectemy (at age 36) at the beggining of Utah's elk hunt. My dad insisted I not go at all because of this. And as for other years your saying a good guy would leave his family for 5-6 weeks (this is how long my dad has gone for) and leave his wife with 2 toddlers and 20 rentals just because his father is going out west for a month and a half? Really?

I suppose that is what you would do which probably explains why you never mention kids. And yes I have bowhunted 3 weeks alone backpacking.

Wow, this thread got WAY off topic, eh?

I was blessed to draw an AZ tag this year after 10-years of applying (or was it 9 plus the loyalty? whatever).

Although I had a great hunt, and was blessed with a good bull, I found my hunt in AZ to be very similar to my hunting home in NM: every road was crawling with trucks or sidebysides.

I would lean toward whichever unit you can identify inaccessible parcels to get off the beaten path. In the unit I drew there were very few places without roads, and although I found elk pretty much every place I looked, it was in the more remote areas in which I found less hunting pressure and had a more enjoyable experience.

Now settle down and play nice...

Carl

Which area did you hunt Carl? I have 10 points going into the draw this year. I'm thinking of holding out for awhile for a unit 9 tag or going for unit 8.

Norcalhunter:

Rather than post info for multitude to see, all I'll say is that I had gotten to the point of getting sick of putting out $ every year only to see the "top tier" units take more and more points staying ahead of me, so listed a "lesser" unit as my 3rd choice and drew it. It was one of the few units that I had a chance of drawing with 9-10 points.

Typical Robb answer! Avoids all wrong doing, liability and accepts no blame and admits no wrong! Most importantly you never really say anything or take a stand for anything.

Robb you might be the only person I know who is never wrong! Do you realize what any normal person would think when they read your cray posts? You slam yourself, I do not even need to add anything!

Opps!.....'PM' gone wrong huh Donnette?

Great to a see-----the whole internet can read the kinda 'GED Equivalent' PM Rants I recieve from you.

Well at least I will not get a bunch of 'WTF' Robb interactions/questions about my input on your Help-Me-Help-Me-I am clueless threads.

So with the timing of this -Bring It to The Top- post by you.....

You got SKUNKED yet AGAIN on a Bow Only OIL hunt.

This time in N.Mexico/lst time in Colorado.

Why do you not just Sell your bow Donnette?

Robb

PS--No doubt you will have your standard---I got a shot--but missed excuse.....Sell your bow Donnette.
