Best Colorado public land unit?

First off I'm not asking for any honey holes just looking to hunt public land elk next year and need a good area to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am looking for the same thing.
Bow or gun?

I talked with a guy the other day that said he had been hunting 751 for years.
He is a gun hunter and went 2nd or 3rd gun I don't remember wich. He had lots of nice elk pics.

I am going bow. (undecided where)

Thanks txjp. I'm going to rifle hunt with my buddy. I'm putting together info from maps, game department info, biologists. If I get good info I will pass it on.

Elk are all all across the state of Colorado and can be hunted in hundreds of GMU's. Any of them can be good at a given time. Don't get your hopes up on 201.. that was just giving you the truthful answer. But it takes 20 years to draw. Best advice, figure out what kind of hunt do you want. Do you want a wilderness hunt? Or perhaps one where you can use a vehicle or ATV. Do you want to hunt first rifle? Or do you want to hunt the migration in the 4th? Colorado is the land of opportunity as far as elk hunting goes, just got to do your research and pick a unit and get after it.

+1 CB, you need to first figure out what type (elevation, terrain etc...) mostly any unit between I25 and utah is mostly public land, so its just the matter of your idea of what sort of hunt and then narrow down your choices.

I definately recomend a 1st rifle season or 4th season, the 2nd and 3rd seasons are going to be TOUGH! Not just for a NR but anyone.
