Proof of Antler Genetics

The hunts are over. Sounds like Utah had a very sucessful Hunting Show, (Going to try to be there next year).
Anyway, for lack of anything better to do on a cold winter night, I thought I would share a couple of photos I have of some important proof of antler genetics being passed on for decades.

The 1st photo is of a buck we harvested in ?probably 1972 or 1973?. The 2nd photo is of a buck my son Hornhog2 killed in 2005. Both are heavy horned bucks, but look at the heavy ?crab claw? on the right side. These bucks were killed less than 5 miles apart but at least 30 years apart. Kind of weird huh!

The good looking man in the photo right is my Dad, with his arm on my leg, Hornhog2s? Grandpa, he passed away in June 2006. Not sure we'll get over that one.

That's a nice set of bucks. That old pic is neat. I always love seeing old pics like that. Sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. Cool to see his love of hunting carries down the generations.

Thanks for the pic.

I have a couple of antlers that look alot like those two. I hunt a little to the east of cloride. It always fascinates me how much the deer out there look alike. I have had at least three deer hanging from that same spot your sons is.

See you out west.

My family has killed a few bucks w/a little crab-claw gene on one side like that, too. Still see alot of bucks w/that little crab-claw on the one side out in the Bookcliffs, as a matter of fact.

Cool old pic. I've seen alot of pics from back in the day w/those same style of shirts like your dad is wearing...most of them red instead of orange, too.
