My First Elk

LAST EDITED ON Oct-30-11 AT 07:24PM (MST)[p]Here is a pic of my first elk. It was a tough hunt as the bulls were treed up and not coming out much. We watched this guy go in to the timber at first light and I made a play. After a long hike I sat for hours where I hoped he would come out that evening. As luck would have it, he came out 315 yards straight accross the canyon, but he had me pegged. First shot was him facing me and caught lung, he hunched up, but he was still staring at me so I followed it up and put him down. I was as excited as a kid at Christmas walking up to him. He may not be the biggest bull posted but he is a trophy to me! I don't do the score thing, nor do I really care. He will look good on my wall.

Great job on your first bull! He is a dandy!

I don't think there is any other quality
so essential to success of any kind as the
quality of perseverance. It overcomes
almost everything, even nature.
