Me and my two boys went on the North end of the unit.David and his boy Kaemon (tag holder) went on the North west side of the unit, Murry and his boy Bryson went to the south west side of the unit.

This was a slow start to the hunt me and boys were the only ones to find elk this morning two raghorn five points.

That evevining David and Kaemon went to another cayon on the north end, Murry our boys and myself went to the central part of the unit we found nothing that night.

David and Kaemon found two bulls one he wanted shoot but the situation wasn't right.

We all decided to back sunday morning to that canyon to find the bull from the night before.

Sunday morning we had a storm roll in the wind was blowing the snow sidways, you coudn't see 100 yards in any direction, we
took shelter in some pines to wait out the storm.

Well after about an hour of waiting we decided to head back to camp have some breakfast and wait out the storm at camp. Would'nt ya know it as soon as we got back to camp the storm started to lift.

We had breakfast, decided to take the trucks up into the cayon this time.By this time it is about noon on sunday, we chained up the trucks and headed in.

We arrived to our glassing point at about 1:30 David, Kaemon, Murry and myself left the younger boys at the truck, we were just going to walk out to a point 500 yads. away from the trucks.

We got about 250yds. from the truck when Murry spotted two bulls in a burn about 600yds. from us at that point.

They started feeding down towards us so we decided to wait this out to see what would happen. The bulls were coming in perfectly, feeding right at us. Well at this point we had been away from the trucks about 30 minutes, we could see the trucks this entire time. Well with three boys one 14 one 13 and one 11 boredom sets in real fast, thats when the windows got rolled down talking got louder, well you know were I'm going with this, the bulls heared them and turned to go back to were they came from.

I told Kaemon your going to have to shoot now or they will be gone. They were at about 300 to 350 at this point. He let the first one fly, missed then the second one found its mark.

So here is Kaemon and David with his bull.

So you split the Beav and one of you took the back door? Curious on penetration.

Way to tap the Beav.

Well it wasn't me who got the tag, but I know him and his Dad are very glad. It was a fun time.

KRIS......ALL RIGHT......NICE BULL.......HAPPY TAG HOLDER & ANOTHER GREAT TRIP !!!!! YOU FELLAS ARE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT..............CONGRATS.........YD.

I just wanted to take a moment and thank great friends for stepping up without hesitation and helping a friend out.

On Thursday Nov. 3rd, I received a call from the UDWR informing me somebody had turned in a tag and my seventeen year old son was next on the list. Not knowing the area and having no time to scout, I told the caller I needed a day to think about it. I hung up and called Kris (Tikka). I knew his bro had drawn that tag a couple of years ago and needed some advise. Without hesitation he said "take that tag and I'm in". I was somewhat suprised at his response. I said talk to your wife and make sure you can make the trip. He said I'm in. LOL.

Next I called Murry, and he too dropped everything and offered to help out. I was shocked and didn;t know what to say. Kris hauled his trailer down for all to stay in and murry hauled the wheelers. Neither would let me pay for gas. I did insist on paying for the food.

Well, all of you have read Tikka's story of the hunt. My son, Karmon is still bragging up a storm. He carries two pics of the hunt with him everywhere he goes. One with him and I and the other with all of our great friends!

Thanks Kris and Murry, I couldn't have done it alone with limited time and resources. Having great friends is what life is all about!

That is a awesome story and a great example of the help it takes to have a successful hunt. we all talk about the DIY or Self Guided situations but if we all sit back and think about it, there is a ton a thanks that need to go out to everyone. Family, friends the local residents and ranches we talk to, and our fellow hunters on these forums that give advice.
It really is a "Team" effort!

Congrats to your son, he will remember this the rest of his life.
