Remington M700 LSS accuracy

I am thinking of getting a Remington M700 LSS in 300 win mag or 270 WSM. I was wondering how accurate the Remington rifles are. I shoot a Ruger .30-06 now and after having the barrel free floated and bedding the action it shoots .75" groups at 100 yds. I would plan on free floating the barrel on the Remington if needed. Thanks.

Louie,

The model 700 action is used by more custom rifle builders than any other action, mostly for their inherent accuracy. The model 700 has also won more NRA factory rifle competitions than any other rifle. I think you would be very happy with the LSS. Like any model of rifle though, you could get a bad one. If you do have any problems, free floating the barrel and bedding the action will cure 95+% of them. Just my 2 cents.

I have several and have never had any real issues with them. Accuracy has run from .2-.3 in the varmint calibers up to 1" in a 06 I had. The last two rifles are both 700 titaniums in 270 and 7 rsaum. The 7 shoots .5-.6 with 160 accubonds and the 270 went .75 with 150 accubonds. I've never bedded an action, but it cant hurt.

I have a Rem. 700 in a .300 Win Mag with a Laminate stock w/ Stainless Barrel, this is my first Remington rifle and will not ne the last. This particular rifle is extremely ACCURATE, I could not believe the groups I got with this rifle.

I would not hesitate to buy a Remington 700.

I had a M700 in .270 that had crap accuracy... floated the barrel and it now shoots under 3/4". If they arent accurate with a minor amount of work they sure can be. My favorite rifle MFG!

I have an LSS in 300 ultra mag, and about a dozen other remingtons...
The LSS was OK out of the box, but that big round can cause a guy to flinch a bit. I also did not like the trigger one bit. I re-worked it my self, but it took me a while to get it even close to "good". It did help a lot with the group size on paper. It was and always will be way under minute of deer or elk, especially under field conditions. I have made a few shots that were way out there with that gun.
mostly you just gotta put the time in developing a load and working on the trigger.
By the way Remington is coming out with a new and better trigger. It might be a good Idea to do some looking at that before you by the gun, if it is an option.
Good luck
Remingtons all the way!

Hopefully its along the lines of the Savage Accu-trigger. IMO thats the best trigger out there. You can SAFELY lower it down to a crisp 2.5lbs pull.

>>The last two rifles are both 700 titaniums in 270 and 7 rsaum.<<

If you want another 7 SAUM in a 700TI, I have a brandy new one still in the original box that I'm selling with 4 boxes of Rem. factory ammo for $1,000 plus $25 S&H. -TONY

I've owned, a Tikka 7 mag, a Win Coyote M70. 7wsm, a Browning 270, win M70 270, a savage 110 7mag,

Nothing shot better than any of my Remington M700 out of the box, I just sold my custom Rem 7mag. with a SS shillan barrel, to buy a SS Rem M700 SPS in 300WSM, my sons SPS shot just as well as my custom, so why carry a heavy gun...

Got a 1963 Model 700 264 Mag!!! Deadly!!! I purchased a 700 BDL 7 Mag about 6 years ago and the trigger was set on 7.5 lbs pull!!! No not a misprint 7.5 lbs!!! I took it to a gunsmith and he worked his magic on the trigger and wow!!! Deadly!!! You can't go wrong Good Luck

And they have a detachable bolt handle. Considering there are only a couple of places on a bolt action rifle where you push, pull, or tug, you would have thought they would have paid attention to those parts.

Resurrection of an old thread. Interesting how most sung the praises of the 700 back then. Sadly, we’d see the opposite if this post were made today.
